Some New York titles are so cheap.
I got a call from a title in New York, they wanted to pay me 125.00 for edoc refi. She wont go any penny above that amount, fine, I agreed on that, since its in my own city. I asked her if they pay if loan would'nt fund, she said "Oh yes we pay only 25.00" WHAT?? that only covers my print, what about the time with the borrowers, gas, etc, etc.
Sorry I can not take this ASSignment. Callers with caller id blocked are a red flag in my book.
Thank you.

Consider this...
While I would agree that is cheap for a no-fund, it's been pointed out several times that this approach doesn't take into account the whole picture. You've refused an otherwise acceptable assignment solely because of the low no-fund fee; but what percentage of your signings don't actually fund? 1-2%? Certainly not many. If you have 50-100 good signings with this company at $125 or more, and then one $25 no-fund, isn't that an acceptable ratio? I'd sure take it.
My point is that I wouldn't refuse a company's entire business on the remote possibility that something MIGHT happen with one or two signings down the road.

Re: Consider this...
I had 2 no signs in one week from the same borrower. Was at bwr house both time for over an hour. Was told off by LO that I didn't know how to sell the loan. Sell the loan?

I understand your point, but I hate to work for free.

Some work a lot for a little. Some work a little for a lot. Some would rather work and take a chance. Some would rather not.
In my work, I'd say 1-2% of the loans have not closed. Nonetheless, here's the way I see it ...we all have our angles...it's something to think about.
Whether our view is true or not, some of us are tired of being the ones who have bent over backward to boost the success of a signing service only to have them be indifferent to the value of the time of the notary who helped them get there.
Some of us *are* signing services and don't mention that on this board but give advice to innure to the benefit of our own goals.
Some of us b*tch about the evils of signing services whether or not the same exists to improve the path of our own agendas.
Some of us sign on and bi*ch about little stuff to make others stop taking the loans so we can take them.
Some of us are happy when we see others bi*ch about small stuff because some of us know to go get that business.
Some of us are just sour people who don't do anything with any kind of business.
Some of us are too smart to fall for any of the above.
Some of us think we are smarter than everyone else and attempt to help everyone else see the light just to elevate the perception we have of stupidity around us. (We do that in daily life and people generally avoid us.)
Some of us think we are smarter than everyone else and attempt to visit the mushroom syndrome upon our peers. Sometimes it works.
Some of us pretend to know it all.
Some of us do.
Take it all with a grain of salt, friends.

Calnotary is making a decision on his business based on one of two things, I'd guess. Either having experienced a screw job and hating it (from a no sign) or from reading about it.
Bottomline, work your business 99% like you never read a notary board.

Re: Consider this...
But in the overall context, you will likely have a very small percentage that is "free"; is that worth turning away ALL the business they might give you? Showing my age, but to me that seems like throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Put another way, I'd rather have 90% of something than 100% of nothing. Your call, and good luck.

Re: Consider this...
I will take any signing when you are paid a decent fee and if that one turns a bad one, who cares the next one will pay good, but when you are working at a very small profit you can not loose like that. Or maybe like Brenda said, maybe some of you are SS and pretend to be notaries so we can keep accepting those conditions.
That's why this industry is going south, because people accept what ever SS,title, lender offers. Yeah it could be supply and demand too. Who knows?

Re: Consider this...
Let me be clear that I was not implying that Roger has an SS.
What I am implying is for all to let good sense of reason dictate business decisions, explore your own ideas, be willing to fail and be willing to get back up and try something else, but don't buy into stinking thinking (negative perceptions or paranoia) or logic is not cut out for the location and business you currently have. Take it all in with a grain of salt.
I take some business that only guantees trip fees because they WILL fund 99.9% of the time. I reject Amerigroup/MIC business now because it probaby will not fund. That's because I have a sense of what works for me.

I do agree with you on MIC, they truly are out there on the edge. Though in the past year I have only had 2 go South on me, so like gas, paper and everything else I look at it as a cost of doing business.

Re: Consider this...Great for you, PL...MIC
and I split the sheets when I arrived at the second 60 mile trip in a row with docs printed and -one bwr was not home -one met me at the door and said NO, I DO NOT WANT THIS #(%@# LOAN.
Now, that's pretty good learning for me after the IFFY ones of people not knowing I was coming so either full fee on those or I ain't goin'.
This is MY experience and not something I gleaned from the board. I like to keep the talk on the board in perspective and it comes from MANY angles.
