I really didn't think about my safety that much. But now that you mention it.......

Thanks, for the info. I am checking out the site now.

Jill, I feel safe as a signing agent.

I would not feel safe as a realtor going to empty / vacant properties. The bwrs have been id'd and even if they are serial killers they will wait to dump their bloodlust on someone other than the notary so they can keep the lower interest rate on their killing parlor.

A prospective seller/buyer in real estate can lie about their name so who will know if you were going to meet Joey or Jerry?

That's why I will not do inspections which require interaction with p/o'd people. Who knows who is living in the house by the time the mortgage is so passed due.

I don't know if you meant to be funny or not, but I laughed at "serial killers and their bloodlust" and definetly got your point.

Thanks, I will be chuckling all day now.

Brenda,

Brenda,

I had a signing last month where this borrower became so angry at
her interest rate (apparently the loan officer had lied to her), that she
threw the loan package up in the air and across the room!

Not only did she angrily telephone the loan officer (and had very "choice"
words), she only completed the documents that she deemed important.
On others she wrote those very same "choice" words across each page
with an explaination of why she thought this man (and the company)
was an ". . . . .".

In a nutshell, the signing was completed (she needed to refinance
like "now"Wink, the loan funded and it was a first for me.

This particular borrower lived in a very nice home and neighborhood
not far from me. BTW, the signing agency told me, afterwards, that they
knew she had a temper and had been trying to get this loan completed
for over a week (had sent out another signing agent, once before).

Still on another signing appointment, I met a very nice "white collar
professional" woman. But my gosh! The neighborhood was
terrible! Took me forever to find a parking space, and was worried that
I might be robbed. Her husband waited outside for me, to ensure
that I would "be safe".

She explained that this was an investment property
(she lived in the front house and rented out the back). That she
would be selling this property in the next two to four years. After
the signing was completed, she walked me outside and explained
about who all had recently been killed or mugged on her block,
and where each incident happened!

You know, being in California, especially Los Angeles and Orange Counties,
you will meet some "interesting" people. Some of the areas that
I cover are heavily gang-infested. Due to the increased drive-bys
in certain areas, I am avoiding them (for now). Also, due to the
overnight/early morning shootings, I will not work 24/7!

Hello Jill,

Each community and service area is different.
Some places are safer than others. Still, it's
always good to always be informed.

Hope you found this information helpful.

Take Care!

Pam
