To Replace or Not To Replace

Well my printer has been a bit fussy with jamming. When I got it, it was used but it was given to me. First thing it did was have a big smudge in the middle of the paper. It did clear up. Still likes to jam a bit. Today it jammed. Took about a dozen attempts to get it cleared and toner was everywhere. I totally cleaned the outside of the cartridge and the area it sits in. Try printing again, big smugde, take out cartridge, and it's a mess again. I don't know if I'm tired enough with the jamming to replace it. Maybe the cartridge just got screwed up. vent vent vent

What type of printer

Many printers that have jamming problems have worn rollers. E-bay often offers kits to replace roller systems especially for some HP models. Perhaps this can be a solution for you. I think I would purchase a new or slightly used printer and use your old when repairded as a backup. Best of luck:-)

Re: What type of printer

It's an hp laserjet 5n. Ok I cleaned it again. I figured that there was toner on the rollers so I printed out 5 test pages and the toner is cleared out. Looks like the clunker is back in action. I'm just really tired of spending money right now and watching my bank account dwindle away. You know new home and cross country move really sucks up the resources. I'm just going to have to suck it up and start looking for another one before the money is gone.

I bought one with less than 3000 pages for 178. Maxed the memory for 14 bucks. And bought a second tray for .01 + 18.00 shipping....

Aw Dog

The bidding only had 49 seconds left when I looked at it. But you know I think I will look in to going the ebay route for a good used one. I wasn't super happy with the last ebay purchase I made, but that issue has nothing to do with purchasing from a different seller.

Between

Your suggestions and my hubbys techie geek skills we can make old reliable into a great machine. I think I'll try the kit and see if that does the trick. Still considering a newer, faster model. Thanks for the input. Lately I've been suggesting to my hubby to check ebay for things when we are internet window shopping. It's come in quite handy.

SaraBeth!

Sarabeth,

Checkout: Http://www.Brothermall.com.
Purchased my refurbished Brother printer (DCP8025D)
via Brothermall and have had no problems, so far.
It comes with a three year warranty
(covers both parts and labor for the first two years.).

Bought my refurbished laser fax (Business-Class 4100) from there too.

Also, Epinions.com and Amazon.com are good sites for product reviews.

Pam
