?? for PAW or any techie person
My daughter gave me the download site for a great word/excel program. I like it better than MSword and better yet, it's FREE! My question, how can they do this? Is it legal, or is the puter police gonna come and get me? What do you think? www.openoffice.org. TIA

From my perspective, if the site is giving you a license to use or distribute the software, then you do not need to fear the 'puter police.

OpenOffice.org is a great alternative to MS. It is a suite of office programs including a Powerpoint type presentation maker, a database, a spreadsheet, a word processor, and a html page maker.
It's free and it's up in MS's face...free to download, distribute and use.
StarOffice is another version of it.
BlueInk, you scooped one of the articles I was working on for my NL...this is good stuff. I have used it off and on for several years.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has adopted OpenOffice and the associated document formats. See http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1863060,00.asp

Re: Dang, am I the only one that
I've been recommending it for over 2 years in my loan signing classes I teach. It is a great free program.

Joan, I recently ran into an
acquaintance who was one of your recent grads. Although, she didn't tell me about this great website she learned, she did say your class was informative and very positive. She then went on to say she did everything recommended, marketing, equipment, insurance, however she hadn't received a call. She said she called some of the SS's she signed up with, and asked why she hadn't been contacted. "Well, you don't have any experience" or "We're really slow right now".
That was three months ago, and again I ran into her. She wants to know if I know of anyone who wants to buy a B/W printer with dual trays.

Hey Joan, thank you for your response. However I believe this industry has been tapped. I do respect your position, but at this time I think you should start another enterprise. The best of luck to you.
