another vent....
I live around Cincinnati....75 is a major highway that runs north and south through Cincinnati. I had a 8:30 closing. It was going to take me about a 1/2 hr to get to the borrowers home. I left my house at 7:45. Two miles down 75, traffic comes to a stand still. I call the borrower, leave a message, to let them know that I'm in traffic and I'll get there as soon as I'm able. 1/2 hr goes by, still in traffic...moved about 30 feet. Call BO (they were home this time) explain that I'm still in traffic....her response was "Well, when are you going to get here, I don't have all night, you were supposed to be here by 8:30, I have to work tomorrow, why aren't you here..."...again.....I explain that I'm stuck in traffic and that I haven't hardly moved in a half hour. (Picture this...I'm sure you've been here a time or two... it's storming REALLY bad, rain is hitting the car so hard that I can hardly hear her talking....my windows are fogging up, I'm sweating, I'm about to run out of gas, woman is almost yelling in my ear because, for some reason, I don't have any control of the traffic....and I'm hungry) Anyway, 1-1/2 hr later, I get off the exit to turn around. I try to find my way back to 75 N, I almost flood my car while trying to avoid flooded streets....by then, it was too late. I offered to drive WAY out of my way to get to her that night....but the BO didn't want me to come over that late......all of this is why I don't work for cheap signing companies.
What's funny is....I don't think she believed me when I said I was stuck in traffic...she said that her boy has some sort of after school activity around the area where I was stuck and she had never seen a traffic jam.......now, anybody who has driven through a big city knows that there is bound to be congestion....but, she heard about it on the news the next day....75 S SHUT DOWN for 6 hours due to an accident.

Let me guess, she's one of those stay at home moms thats never been out of her suburban comfort zone neighborhood unless its to go to Target, Walmart, or Meijer and considers it slumming if she has to go to the Starbucks on the south side right? I love those kinds of people. They're so fun!
See this is the kind of crap we go through as SA's for signing appointments and TC's and SS's need to understand that their lowballing wont be tolerated anymore. Maybe its irony that I'm listening to Twister Sister right now, or my watching the movie Network, but we need to put all notaries on notice to turn down these lowball fees and let these TC's and SS's know "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
If I could afford to, I'd lease office space and have the borrower come to me instead of driving to them.
