title on acknowledgement

i have a long name and i always have a problem fitting my name and title in the space on the acknowledgement. i've read the law and it simply says title. does anyone know if i can simply put my title as "notary" or do i have to put my title as "notary public" on the name and title line of the acknowledgement?

thank you , larry

Re: title on acknowledgment

You need to put Notary Public.
Just my opinion, Not practicing law...

Actually it isn't necessary to put "Notary Public"

"Notary" is sufficient and if challenged for space, I'd only write 'notary'. No one at the state level has come out and said that **both** words are needed, just an identifier as there are other positions that can fill out an acknowledgment.

I say "notary" is just fine.

I put Notary Public.
Consider getting a stamp in a smaller font size (6-8) to accommodate the lengthy name.

my nane on my stamp and my signature is "Larry Eugene Schaffer". May i use simply "Larry Schaffer" instead of my full name on the name and title line?

You must use the full name as it is on your Commission and seal.

Larry Eugene Schaffer, Notary Public

When you renew, you might consider just using Larry E. Schaffer, Notary Public

Re: title on acknowledgement - I learned something from

this post.

Get a stamp with my name, notary public. Love stamps. Didn't have that one. Will get it!

Re: title on acknowledgement - I learned something from

I always have three stamps with me:

1) Notary Seal
2) Name stamp (Paul Williamson, Notary Public)
3) Form of Identification Stamp (form of ID required by FL statute, stamp available in the NotRot Supplies section)

I'm seriously thinking of getting a county stamp for venues, that have the 6 counties I frequently service.

I too love stamps. Mostly because I have terrible handwriting. Many people have told me they can't read what's written, 'cause it's written rotten. Smile

I am seriously thinking about the Name Stamp, though.

i originaly signed my full name as "richard e brockman"...when it got to cumbersum i changed my seal to read "r e brockman" which is some shorter, but in wi we have to print our name below our signature and because you would be hard pressed to know what i had just written when you see my signature, at least because my name is printed below you know who signed the ack or jurat as the case may be,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
