Accusigning...Bouncing Checks????

I finally got a check from Accusigning for a closing I did 3 months ago. However, when I went to cash it, the check system declined it. I called the bank to verify funds and was told that they could not give me that information. I have to go to the local branch with 2 forms of ID and it was up to them to decide if they will cash the check for me.

I have never heard of anything like this. In my previous line of work I verified funds with the bank before accepting checks on many occasions.

Has anyone else run into this situation?

I went into a panic too soon. I went this morning to the local bank branch and they cashed the check with no problems. Thank goodness. I was just really confused that the woman I talked to last night would not verify funds for the check.
