Another lost opportunity
Among other things I am discovering as a result of a misspent life, now that I am approaching my allotted three score and ten, is the manna that is a Fluffernutter Sandwich. Surely, this must have been served at the Last Supper; it is a concoction that is worthy of such an event. I envy you Nor'easters who grew up on such delicacy. When I think of all the times that my parents tried to convince me that cornbread soaking in buttermilk was a delicacy, I am tempted, now that I have found Fluffernutters, to repossess their gravestones. That is the rankest form of child abuse.

I was born in MN, and lived in OH, NY, CT, NC and CA all before I was 18. So we got the priviledge or curse of trying many local specialties. My parents being native of MN, and my mother being a Fin would try to convince me as a child that pickled herring was a great thing. NOT! Once in CT, we discovered fluffernutters, and while it was not my favorite, my brother was an addict. My parents were telling my 15 year old daughter about fluffernutters just last week, and she looked at them like they wanted her to eat poison. LOL Now, personally I'll take Nutella on a croissant!

OK, I bite (no pun intended)
what is Fluffernutters?? Ive lived in CT all my life & haven't a clue what you're talking about. The only thing I can think of is fluff -- the gooey marshmallow spread that goes with a peanut butter sandwich. Am I right? Or did I completedly miss something in my own state?

You are right. It is called a Fluffernutter.
Fluffernutters make the news: http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2006/06/21/the_war_on_fluffernutter_escalates_in_legislature/

Re: OK, I bite (no pun intended)
That is precisely what a fluffernutter is -- marshmallow spread with peanut butter on bread -- though if you had asked me that question last week, I would have been clueless. Best I would have been able to come up with would be that it sounds like a woman-chasing' ol' fart, much like myself. As I have discovered in the past few days, though, the real thing is much tastier.

I've had the fluffernutter. It's amazing. But I never knew the name. If I had, I wouldn't have touched it with a ten foot pole.
It was the thing you ate while Mom was asleep on the sofa for her afternoon nap and she didn't know we were in the kitchen, whispering and spreading marshmallow and peanut butter......yeah, right. Those eyes were always watching.

Never had one but sounds wonderful! Kinda like the honey, p-nut butter & banana sandwiches we would make after school to tide us over between lunch & dinner. I'm not the worst cook in the world, but I'll be darned if I have ever figured out how our mother managed to hide enough banana's to finish her pudding! Those were the days! Especially since there wasn't any "instant" pudding around then...<

"...marshmallow spread with peanut butter on bread"
That sounds absolutley HORRIBLE. Can't imagine marshmallow anything being good, let alone on a peanut butter sandwich. UUUGGGHHHH. I'll just have some honey on mine please, and don't forget the milk!
