Brenda/TX re: Melaluca oil...O/T

I loved the helpful tips you gave us all in the last newsletter and just wanted to let you know that Melaluca Oil is also good for pond fish. My fish have had a fungus and "Melacure" was recomended to help heal their torn fins and abrasions.

Having learned what I have about Melaluca, you can bet that I'll be in the Walmart pharmacy tomorrow purchasing mother nature's cure all.

Thanks again for the information.

I agree Becca. The little bit of dabbling I have done in lye soap making has truly opened my eyes to the uses of herbs and natural cures for what ails you.

It just makes sense...kind of like rinsing off with a hot shower if you have pollen allergies.

I am a big believer in vinegar to treat fungus also. Bacteria and fungus thrive in base (non-acetic) environments. It's just common sense to try using these things for light infections your kids get when they scratch after mosquitos. It's helpful as heck to stop impetigo...I had one boy who got it and two who never did. Kids with less acid on their skin will naturally develop more yucky infections from playing outside in the Gulf Coast mosquitos and then all that scratching. Make them soak in vinegar water. It helps.

Re: Brenda/TX you ARE Mother KIA!

It just dawned on me that I had no pond problems until I used a product to reduce algae. Well, the product lowered my alkilinity levels which lowered my ph levels and increased my bacterial blooms. It all makes sense now; low alkaline=low ph=fungus and bacteria. Yikes, I infected my fish!

I'm no chemist, but now I realize the importance of alkilinity in the big picture of things.

Thanks, Brenda. Once again you have lead me on a path to find answers to the questions that I didn't even know I needed answered. You are one awesome lady!

Jackie of all Trades, master of none! Tomorrow we will talk about using glycerin to clean the bottom of your iron. LOL.

*low alkaline=low ph=fungus and bacteria* should be:

low alkaline=higher ph=fungus and bacteria.

The lower your alkaline, the higher your pH.
