Can a broker ...

charge a borrower for not signing papers?

I was at a closing where the money was off like $13,000 from what the borrower was originally told. The borrower had him on speaker and told him that if he didnt sign the papers he would get a bill for all the time they had in the loan up until that point.

Needless to say the borrower did not sign and told him to go ahead and bill him. I was dumbfounded when i heard the broker tell him that ... but in the same breath he told him to sign and just cancel it in the next 3 days if he still did not feel good about it ...

Depends on the broker contract.

Paul is correct, but the borrower might consider.....

advising the broker to have the bill printed on VERY soft paper.
This broker will therefore avoid getting a rash when he uses
the bill for what it is probably good for.
