Clark County recorder turns self in to face misconduct charges
LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Clark County Recorder Francis Deane turned herself in yesterday afternoon to face charges of misconduct as a public officer.
Deane faces 19 felony counts including fraudulent appropriation of property and theft.
Deane posted a bond through a local bail bondsman on 20-thousand dollars bail and was fingerprinted and photographed.
She is to appear in the Las Vegas Township Justice court at 8 a-m today.
She's the elected chief of the county office that handles thousands of documents a day -- including marriage licenses and property records.
According to a criminal complaint filed in a Las Vegas court, Deane used the funds to pay her bills and purchase a plasma television. An arrest warrant was issued on June 13, 2006 in her name.

So it appears fraud strikes even those you would expect to be honest. Amazing how some people start thinking "a little here, a little there" no one will notice.....It's sad when it has repercussions back to the County Recorder's office and how much mis-trust she has now created in the public mind.. ..Thanks Brenda for posting this information. It serves as a good reminder that we too are public servants and not beyond the letter of the law.

Unbelievable! And they let her post a $20,000.00 bond? That's pretty cheap considering the $$$ she's been stashing away....of course it's going to be kinda hard to "see" that plasma tv from her cell....I'll be interested in seeing how this turns out.....maybe she can use some of that $$ she took in to hire herself a lawyer....notice I declined from saying a "good lawyer". Justice system is supposed to be representative of "not guilty until proven by evidence of guilt" but the warrant (18 pages) seems to be pretty straight forward.
