Country Wide VanNuys, Cal
I received a last minute call from Countrywide offering a reasonable fee for a time sensitive signing within an hour. I accepted and with my assistant's help printed and rescheduled anexisting appointment for the time slot.
When I arrived the borower and a notry were enjoying glasses of wine and the stated the notary has arrived first!

You said you rec'd a call from Countrywide, sounds more like a double booking.. If you have confirmation from Countrywide I'd send them an print & trip invoice. Doesn"t sound right that another Notary would be sitting there drinking a glass of wine. Sounds kinda fishy?

With Countrywide, very often the TC hires a notary, and the LO hires a notary. I know that has happened to me, but I always call on Countrywide closings, tell the borrower who I am, and give them my number in case any other notary call them to confirm. It happens more often on the closings out of Plano, Texas.

I have heard of that before, but have not had that experience. Of course you will charge for you trip fee and document prep!
