Favicon Query - OT

Will using a favicon slow down the loading of a webpage if the favicon is not where it should be?

OT - No.

If the FAVICON.ICO is not present in the home (or root) directory, it won't be loaded. Heck, sometimes even if it is present, the browser doesn't load it. Smile

Make sure the favicon file is the proper size or it may not load or load improperly.

thanks Paul!!

Favicons are those cute little things that look like an "e" where your URL is.

If you want, you can upload a little star, or a picture of your rear end or something like that to appear.

Re: BRENDA - Favicon - Barbara - Thank you...it's official

We can now e-moon with our websites with teeny-weeny little miniature replicas of our rumps.

Re: Okay, I'll take the bait. What's a favicon?

A favicon (short for "Favorites icon"Wink, also known as a page icon, is an icon associated with a particular website or webpage. A web designer can create such an icon, and many graphical web browsers—such as recent versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, Safari, and Konqueror—can then make use of them. For example, if you go to my website and then look in your address bar, you will see a minature of my site logo in front of the address. Likewise, may other websites make use of these, like TV Guide, NWS, etc.

Hmmm????

Interesting... My favicon doesn't show up in the address with IE 6, but does with FireFox 1.5. However, if you add it to your favorites, it will appear in that menu. (Wonder what destructive update has Microsoft done to IE now??)
