From a solicitation letter:

We would be enlisting your services to perform witness-only closings in a limited travel area. >>>To offset your costs, we will provide a FedEx account number for the
returning of documents.<<< (That's rich.)

xxx has provided us with a schedule of your
current fees for witness-only signings.

We are willing to pay you the
established xxx fee, plus an additional >>>>$5.00 <<<<< email fee for witness-only
closings. We will not accept any deviation from these existing rates.

I am so excited about this opportunity I can hardly post. (not really sarcasm impaired).

If I recall which signing this was, I quoted them $150 and was surprised as heck when they called back. I usually don't quote that high for something close by.

Somehow, I don't think this "sister" group really intends to pay me $150 + $5 for edocs...based on their "non-deviation from these existing rates." Interesting isn't it?

I also received this email. $5 for edocs. What a joke! In some cases that would not even cover the paper let alone my time, ink, wear and tear on my printer, etc. Jeez! The nerve!

Ananotary - I feel better now - here it is. I did ONE signing for that signing company a few weeks ago, quoted it higher than I dreamed they would go and they called me back...I was shocked...anyhow, in the little "contract" they want you to call them for the standard fee. I read that tonight. I am sure they are not paying the rate we agreed upon with NDS. Oh well...such is life. Here ya'll go...

The Kinko's near my home charges $0.08 per legal sized page -- at least it did the last time a TC sent docs there, which was a couple of months ago, it's probably higher now -- but we'll use that as a model anyways.

Most e-doc packages are 50 to 151 pages, just for one set.

* two sets of 50 the cost is: $8.00.
* two sets of 100 the cost is: $16.00.
* two sets of 151 the cost is: $24.16.

So $5.00 for two sets of e-docs doesn't work here.

I don't know, that FedEx account number to offset your costs is real pot sweetener.

I don't care how they want to break it down as long as they'll accept the higher base fee. $125 plus $30 for e-docs, or $150 plus $5 for e-docs. If that's what makes them happy. But I doubt that will work. They've been contacting me for years but always want to pay $50.

Re: From a solicitation letter: Al...pickens are very slim

here. More than once I have had an SS refuse my fee only to have the title company call me after they profess not to be able to locate an SS.

I guess my $50 shadow must have been busy.

Re: Brenda

My email is in my link...I am at work and don't like to email from here much...even on gmail.

I filled out my "particulars" and then listed my prices for counties in a range from $1XX - $300 and told them that the price sheet was non-negotiable for the signing types I gave them.

"It has been brought to our attention that you have been performing document signings for our sister company, Nationwide Document Services."

It appears they don't know who's in their database and who's not. AES engaged my services on July 15, 2005 for an overnight doc assignment for $95.00 (plus $35 for edocs, if necessary). I feel real special that they went out of their way to invite me to be a part of their team!
