Geesh.... 5:09 AM and got an emergency notary request.....
This only happened like twice . I got a call at 4:45 AM and was asked if I could show up at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA (the place where I was born ) to witness the signing of important medical paperwork crucial to a patient that isn't doing to well. I'm not exactly sure what I am suppose to be witnessing. The lady that called me said it was important and that they couldn't find another notary that is on call 24 hrs.
She told me that she is willing to pay me $125 if I travel to her before 6:30 AM. Not bad for an emergency..... early A.M. call.
Thought I'd take a minute to share this with you all. If you tell the world you are a 24 hr. notary public, make sure you stick with it!!!! I'm off! Thank God that Massachusetts has a Dunkin Donuts on every corner!!

Mornin' Korey - coffee's ready =)
I did have this happen and I was so nervous about the condition I'd find the person in (meaning mental capacity) as it was his signature I was to notarize - all contact w/ me had been through a family member, I'd not yet spoken with the principle. We'd had a couple conversations as they worked with their attorney, trying to get things done quick as possible. Finally, they called to say they needed the Will done, it was the only doc they had ready, and they were "out of time", could I come IMMED. I made it all very clear on the phone, up-front, trying to avoid any issue when I got there. If I found him in any way to be 'not of sound mind' (from meds, or condition) ... I wouldn't be able to complete this. They almost laughed, saying "you will find him totally sound ..."
It was very, very sad as the gentleman was in hospice, and obviously very near his end, but they were correct, he was most clear and concise with everything. Quite.
Be careful of that, though. Sounds like same kind of situation.
