Georgia Purchase signing in Ca

I did a signing the other day for a purchase of a Georgia property performed in California. The husband was the only one whose named appeared on any of the documents including the Security Deed but he insisted that everytime he buys another property in this state and in the same track of housing, that his wife has had to sign also. I, of course, tried to call title and signing service but it was 7:00pm and no one answered. As per the borrower's request, since he and his wife were going out of town for the next 3 days and in the interest of getting this loan to process, he insisted that the wife sign also. I explained that if this was not what the title company wanted, it may hold up his loan and have to be re-signed. He said that is okay. So, I let the wife sign all of the documents as the husband insisted.

The next morning, I called the signing service to explain and they did not seem to care one way or the other and said that they would call title. I asked them to please then call me and let me know if this was standard for this state, as her name was not on any docs. They never got back to me and loan papers have been recieved by now.

Do any of you know if the wife is required to sign on the docs or not?

TIA, Jenifer
