Heart attack during signing
This Friday, I have just started with the signing, after the first attempt since title did not include the first page of the hud, and borrowers didnt wanted to sign without one. I hate when they send the documents to the borrowers home. So on this second attempt to sign, the signing needed to be adjourned, the borrower's sister was having a heart attack, and since they live 2 blocks from there they wanted to be there when the paramedics arrive. So I pack all my staff and left.
When I was at my car making some calls, the borrower came to my car and told me that it was just a joke from his brother and everything was ok, well I had to leave, I had another one in the same town, and I couldnt be late with this other borrower. I dont know why people are so stupid and play this stupid jokes. My borrower who is a lady in her mid forties, but kind of overweight, she would be the one having the heart attack, if this relative keeps playing this ridiculous jokes.

I had a signer die in bed while I was obtaining an acknowledgment from him. Just one long exhale.

Joe Re: Heart attack during signing
Joe,
My Goodness!
I just started doing loan signings a few months ago! It never occurred to me that this type of situation (and the one that Calnotary described) could happen!!!! And I hope that I will NEVER have to face any such situation!

Now I have as wicked a sense of humor as anybody, but come on. Who plays a joke like this? What complete idiots, I'm glad you left. I hope your borrower tore her brother a new one.

Nothing funny here!
Keep in mind, when people are signing, there is more stress than someone is normally. I would urge all to be CPR certified!
I myself am actually a CPR instructor, and became an instructor becuase I HAD to use my previous CRP trainig to save a life.
If anybody wants CPR training in the east San Francisco Bay area, let me know and I will set up a class!

Are you kidding? We should be CPR certified because signing loan paperwork is stressful to the borrower? I've read some pretty silly comments on these boards over the years - this one is near the top. If someone wants to be CPR certified for whatever reason that's one thing - for you to suggest we put people in stressful situations and we should be prepared to save them is, in my opinion, utterly ridiculous.

I had a situation at a signing one time where the borrowers had two somewhat rambunctious little boys (about 2 & 4) who were playing in the other room. All of a sudden they noticed that it was suspiciously quiet there. Next thing I know, the parents ran into the other room, dad scooped up the 2yo, while mom started yelling at the kid to breathe, and was shouting at the dad to tickle him, etc. I turn to look and the kid is limp in the dad's arms and beginning to turn blue. Thank goodness the kid started breathing again in what seemed like a lot longer than it actually was, I'm sure, and the kid was fine. (Took me a while to get MY breathing and pulse back to normal, though I somehow managed to keep my cool on the outside!)
Seems that the older brother either kicked the younger boy or pushed him off the sofa or something and the toddler got so upset he stopped breathing - something that had happened a number of times before, so the parents knew to watch out for it. We went back to the table and finished the signing without further event, but I'll never forget that situation! We didn't discuss it, but I sure hope those parents know CPR!
