ID Address
When the address on the ID is different than the current address (old address) and different than the address on the loan, but the BO. has that small paper card from DMV than has the current address in hand writing on it. What address do I use for my journal? I usually use the current one and then note the old one (wrong one) on the additional info. area, and stat that this is the one on the ID. Wondering if this is the right way to do it?

Unless CA has different rules, ...
... which it may have, you are identifying the signer(s), not the address. To be safe, enter the address information in your journal. "Signing took place at ...", the old DL address (with note), the new DL address (with note), and you're completely covered if you are concerned. I'd just use the addresses that the signing took place and the new DL address. If the property address is different from any of the above, I'd put that in my journal as well. You may have to sacrifice one "normal" entry space in order to write all that address info in your journal, but since you're concerned ....

Ernest is Right on
Read your California notary Law Handbook and you will see that the address on the acceptable ID is not an issue. The journal is required by law, but most importantly, it will be used by you in the case of a future depo/testimony. The more info you have, the better to recall the customer/signer, event, etc. Notifying the DMV of your new address within 10 days and that little piece of paper is a DMV (and maybe a CVC issue), not a Notary's concern when accepting valid ID.

Ummmm...seemed like I read somewhere that little paper item is not acceptable ID. Might have read it in my state info. I'll try to see where I read it.

Oh I'm sorry I'm referencing using it for ID purposes, not address verification.
