I am new and looking for work

I am wondering if anyone could help me locate some title companies I could work for in the San Jose, CA area or surrounding area.

Re: I am new and looking for work....Better than being old..

Yes, it stinks to be old and looking for work... I think when I finally decide to put a picture on my profile I'll use one from my twenties and scare the heck out of them when I knock on the door. :-)

OT, but speaking of being old!

Does it annoy anyone else that AARP starts soliciting you way before you can even start receiving the senior citizen discount.
I swear when my husband and I got our first letter from them, I just about died. I looked at my husband and practically screamed "who the hell do they think we are?" My husband looked back at me and calmly (I hate that) said "Oh no the hot flashes and mood swings are starting"

I firmly believe that AARP is single handedly responsible for 99.9% of the mid-life crisis' that occur across the country... We we're all fine until we got our first letter from AARP

You've asked a question that won't get an answer as we all work very hard for our contacts and thus are remiss to hand them out to any person that asks. There are ways to market yourself and if you do a few searches on this site, I'm sure you will find what you are looking for.

Don't solicit title companies!

Get AT LEAST 100 signings under your belt before thinking about title or escrow companies! Signing services are more forgiving of newbie mistakes. The first mistake for a title company will be your last work for that company.

Re: I am old and looking for work. However...

Today I went to see my girlfriend at the retirement center and she has advised me that it will not be long before I won't be needing work as I will be getting married. Seems she's got me on her prayer list for a very wealthy, handsome, nice man and I will be right up there with Mrs. Astor and I'll be traveling the worldwide. (She's older than my mom but still a "girl" at heart.)

Now...don't laugh. I have seen my mother pull off more than this with her prayers. You would just not believe what she's accomplished as a result of prayer. I made Mother promise not to pray me up a husband because I have lots to write before that time. I forgot to mention that to my friend.

She's really serious about it. I kid you not, she's practically got my Mercedes ordered and has not even asked me for a single dime to purchase a prayer cloth from her.

I am not mocking the power of prayer or of the power of these women when they pray...just wanted to let you know because I know how this works. I need to blow this pop stand and start planning the wedding.

Now...hopefully that annoying hijack of this thread has softened up things for Shelly because I know that this is not a popular question. Shelly, I am not making fun of you, but just consider me one of the clowns around the water cooler who hijacks conversations to change the subject when I feel uncomfortable that someone's about to get in "deep" with the office crew.

Take some time to read this forum and you'll learn an awful lot about marketing your services and how to find work.

While she's praying....Imagine the notary nuptials More OT!!

(This if for humor value, but has religious tones)

Imagine the notary nuptials if I'd deliver a list to the center next time. It'd be a regular "Telephone to Glory" song revival.

What? You more cosmopolitan notaries did not know there was a song called that?

Yes...oh yes...and when my son's father and I were very young I took him to a little tiny United Methodist Church where we were dedicating a communion table in my grandfather's memory. Usually a very serious young man, I have to tell you he heard that song and and nearly slid under the pew snorting and trying to keep from laughing louder than the singing.

Telephone to Glory

Central’s never “busy,” always on the line;
You may hear from heaven almost any time;
’Tis a royal service, free for one and all;
When you get in trouble, give this royal line a call.

Chorus:
Telephone to glory, O what joy divine!
I can feel the current moving on the line,
Built by God the Father for His loved and own,
We may talk to Jesus thru this royal telephone.

1919© Words & Music: Frederick M. Lehman (Royal Telephone)

I think the gals at the center have a phone like this.

Brenda

I believe more that you will become Mrs. Astor and drive that Mercedes (I'm not joking either) than I think Shelly will get answers. It has nothing to do with Shelly or signing work, but it has everything to do with YOU.

See, the odds are since Shelly came on this board and didn't research it in advance (eg. use the search button) or since Shelly thought in the back of her mind that it was okay to come to a professional forum and ask beginner questions (or questions that indicated she hadn't entirely looked into this field and made a business plan) your friends aspirations for you are far more likely to happen.

Since I personally adore old people and when I find they have a Word of Wisdom for me, I listen. They have been here longer than me. They have weathered Life's Storms. They may have a better communication with God as they are nearing the end of the Journey. All these things make me listen.

Therefore, I say...Brenda, you need to decide what color Mercedes you like best, and please...for heaven's sake, pick the appropriate sunglasses. It is crucial they match the vehicle.

Yep and Sylvia is Paul's daughter...didn't you know?

**but it has everything to do with YOU.**

I was wondering when you were going to get back on topic. Dang.

I hope people realize this is "me" thing is an old joke between two posters...but they probably don't.

Like when Sylvia let the cat out of the bag that Paul was her "Popsie" and I got that meant a joke.

However, one day Hugh and I were talking right after we became acquainted and he said, "I think Sylvia and that Paul fellow are a father/daughter team." I told him it was a joke, but darn I wish I would have said, "Yeah, you're right." See, Paul really is Sylvia's dad.

Well, Poppy...I was trying to remember this morning what

Cali said about fixing things so I could feel better but I did not make it. He's right about that....I do it all the time but at least I knew it was to make me feel better...awareness is the first step to recovery.

But thanks.

Re: Well, Poppy...I was trying to remember this morning what

Okay,
Maybe Cali was right.
But darnit who says you need to recover? In my book there's nothing wrong with trying to help and if it makes you feel good in the process all the better... Sorry Cali...

Besides fixing things leaves us with a world full of less broken things and that's a good thing at least at my house... (our handy man isn't so handy but we love him anyway)

Re: Well, Poppy...I was trying to remember this morning what

Oh, the fresh opinion of the ones not yet burned by their own 'helpfulness'.

Someday we will see a Poppy that is Poppin' Mad with a different point of view. (I hope not but it is a sad fact of life.)

I agree with Cali and Brenda but you have to understand why. Sometimes helping people the way they want to be helped (handout) isn't really helping at all.

It is hurting them because they do not learn to research and find their own answers. It is hurting us because it is the ones that are too lazy to use the search button that are also too lazy to write a business plan and research the cost of goods and end up doing signings for $75 and thinkin' they are scorin' big... and... last but certainly not least, it is hurting the borrower by putting lazy, underpaid, under-educated, under-experienced SA's on the street with somebody's loan and personal information in their hands.

Now when an SA posts a 'real' question on this board... it's great to be helpful and feel great doing it yet to boot. We aren't talking about helpfulness in general... we are talking about handouts. We are talking about encouraging others to learn to catch their own fish instead of ogling the ones cookin' on somebody else's fire.
