I was about to purchase a hp 2600n laser printer it does not mention pcl6 technology but the rep at offic edpot assured me that it will decipher documents and that pcl6 is the format the computer would decipher. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know all that much about printers. I do know you do need the pcl6 thing, however not all printers have the exact pcl6-- as in brothers, but they are pcl6 compatable. Maybe thats what the rep means? Call HP and ask. Also search printers, laser, etc for info here. Alot has been written.

Gaylon - I dunno if I'd go for it or not...Maybe Paw or Andy can help.

Gaylon ... The HP 2600n is NOT (repeat ... NOT) PCL compliant and will not be able to process edocs that expect to find a printer with RAW PCL capability. Granted, there are probably less than 10% of the edocs that require this, but it only takes one to cost you future business.
When researching printers, look for the printer language support. If it doesn't specifically state PCL5e or PCL6, then it doesn't support it. In the case of the 2600n, it is a host based system, which means it lets the Windows GDI engine process the data. This is fine for things like PDF files which are processed by Windows drivers and engines, but files from Bank of America (baprint), eLynx, etc., print directly to a printer through the printer device driver, not through a Windows device driver.

Thank You I have heard alot about your knowledge of the business and look to maybe having the credentials you have someday. I also would like to know if you might know where I could get a fairly reasonable printer.

Will a dsl connection be fast enough?

Not sure if you noticed but HP2600 is a color laser so even if it's pcl compliant, the print speed wouldn't be adequate for edocs. I'm pretty much into surplus/reclaim of comercial equipment like the HP4100 and up.
