I screwed up
Anyone ever forget to drop docs? I can't believe I did this! If it was in my state I'd drive it there tomorrow. Of course it's for a good company! This is the 3rd job Ive done for them. I guess I can kiss them goodbye... Blast it, I am sooo bad at myself and yeah I'm being chicken and using anonymous

Don't be so hard on yourself
We've all done it. I very seriously doubt that it will cost you your relationship. Heck, if it's a refi, it doesn't fund until Monday. If you drop it off now, they'll still have it by Thursday. The few times I've done it, I dropped it the next day and never even got a call about it. It just depends on how fussy they are. If they call you, just admit it and move on. Otherwise, fugettaboudit.

Re: Don't be so hard on yourself
Thanks, I was wondering if I should call them in the morning, or just wait and see. The paper work said to drop the same day, but the signing was at 6 and then I had a 8:30. The last one was for a friend and the LO is also a friend (he took the docs for that one, thankfully) We chatted way to much and didn't get done till 11. I wasn't going to drop that late, I was tired) Then I spaced today. No signing and triple coupon day at ralphs. Should I tell them I was too busy saving money to dropoff their docs? They"ed love me for that. lol I did get $344 worth of groceries for $147 Thnks for making me feel better...

Re: Don't be so hard on yourself
I agree with Al...you could not have done much better in Texas. Last pick up here is 6:30.

Re: Don't be so hard on yourself
Last pickup time in my area is 6pm. In Raleigh which is 20 miles away it is 7 to 7pm. I never drive to Raleigh to drop off, they need to deal with the 6pm cut off. Also most closings after 2 or 3pm don't get sent back the same day if they require faxbacks, especially since most of my closings are about 40-60 miles one way.

Re: Don't be so hard on yourself
If your signing was for 6:00 I don't see how dropping them off would have made any difference. I don't know about your area but here in my part of CA the last pick up is at 5:00 unless I drive it to the airport FedEx terminal where the last pick up is at 6:00. So as Al said, forgedaboutit.

Re: Don't be so hard on yourself
I think the way this happened was that they didn't send them out that night because it was late and then forgot to send them out the next day. Please post if I'm wrong to clarify. b.

that's the way I read it Bev
Too late the night of signing, missed the next day to ship...if it were me I would call and let them know when to expect package.

Re: I screwed up-This is a mistake I have not yet made
but I have made other huge blunders in my mind, however I've had the dream that I forgot to drop docs when I had several signings in one day and a million other things on my mind.

I've dropped docs into the wrong box -- once
Had FedEx & UPS to drop, boxes next to each other...you know what happened. Well, since UPS got there first, the driver put the FedEx package into the FedEx drop box for me. FedEx did the same for the errant UPS pkg, but UPS had already picked up. I got teased by both drivers later that week. And now, I triple check the docs before and as I'm dropping into the box -- or, better yet, I call in for pickup.

Re: I've dropped docs into the wrong box -- once
I did that once, dropped a Fedex package at UPS. When I realized it, I went into a panic and tried calling UPS to see if I could get the package back from them. I had dropped it right before the last pickup, and they were closed, so there was nothing I could do. I even called a good friend who works for UPS, and he said he could check on it the next morning but not before. Well, what ended up happening was that UPS had found it and pulled it out, and a Fedex driver stopped at UPS and picked it up the next morning. Apparently, this happens regularly, so every day the Fedex driver stops at UPS and picks up errant Fedex packages that were dropped at UPS, and drops off the packages for UPS that were dropped at Fedex! When I learned that, I didn't feel so bad. The docs were one day later because of that, but no one said a word about it. Since I had dropped them on the same day as the signing, the TC ended up receiving them about when they expected to anyway. But you're right, once you make a mistake like that, you're a lot more careful about double-checking the package before putting it in the box.

I'm "outing " myself
Yes Sue and Bev you read it right, signing on monday, shoulda dropped tues. I didn't want to say who I was till I talked to the company. They called this morning, I would have called them,I forgot their time is earlier than mine! They weren't upset, just wanted to make sure package wasn't lost.Whewww, that was a load off my mind. I have worried about doing this and double checked myself, but this is the first time I actually did it. Thanks all, it helped knowing I wasn't the only one

I did the same thing this week - the first time that I forgot to drop the docs since I began as a signing agent over a year ago, although I have come close before.
I had a signing Saturday and was to send the docs by DHL on Monday. I drove around with them in the car during the day and forgot to send them, then planned to drop the docs on my way to a 6:30 pm signing, but the edocs were late and I completely forgot about the docs to mail. At 6:45 pm ,as I was just finishing up printing, my husband called to me from downstairs to ask if I needed to send the package on the counter. I would have been OK if the docs were to go by UPS (last pick-up at 7:00 pm) or FedEx (last pickup at 7:30 pm), but the last DHL pickup was at 6:00 pm.
I didn't call the Title Co. the next day and hoped that they wouldn't call me - they didn't. The professional thing to have done, of course, was to have called them.
