General Answer---
This answer is my personal opinion and NOT STATE SPECIFIC...
If the documents have less than what is on the ID then it's ok.
ie. ID STATES Jane Linda Doe, Docs say Jane L. Doe or ID States Jane L. Doe, docs say Jane Doe.
You can always subtract parts of the name from the ID, but you can never add to it.
so in your instance, no. no ID with the middle initial get's no notarization. Many times the lender will allow you to change the name and remove the middle initial, but always check with who your working with first.
AGAIN, my opinion...

CA "General" Rule for ID
The acceptable ID (as compared to the document(s) to be notarized) can be more, not less and not different. If the doc has a middle initial and the ID does not, then it's considered less. Hope that makes sense.
