Interesting to note for Texans
Seems in some parts TCs are no longer allowing the "courtesy" closing unless it's billed out at approximately $275-$350.
Hook up with a hungry lawyer, offer him a cut of your home equity closings via whatever is legal in his eyes while you do the work. Lawyers know they get the occasional calls but they don't know how to market their services.
Don't let them do the doc printing. You do that. They'll be happy to take $125 and let you borrow a room. Pay them on the spot.
Don't insult the title companies who are against this practice and not allowing it by asking them to let you use a room and cutting them out. You may need a job someday and they won't be forgiving.

Re: Interesting to note for Texans - this was just for Txns
This post and the last one will only make sense to Texans...Mom and pop title co's do not like the notary closer at all.
Some feel it's "wrong" to let notaries use their facilities to provide notary assisted closings when the notary does not work for them.
A lawyer is not as concerned because he's under a different set of rules and he can allow whatever he feels comfortable with in his office.
Signing services who know this are planning ahead and working the fees out ahead of time with the LO and TCs...they are either hiring a notary with a lawyer connection, a lawyer or a full title company assisted closing. And, they are aware of what it costs to get it done.

I will sign them, yes I can, w/Green Eggs and Ham
I am finding this to be true. My closings have all been at a title or Lender office for Equity, Reverse and Cash Outs - all given from SS's. No luck with approaching title companies directly. I think realtors, and loan officers are a safer bet. MKIT strikes again, with some great advice.
The refi's I do where ever the borrower would like, even on the trunk of my car, with Green Eggs and Ham! :>
