Jail Closing

I am scheduled to do a closing this afternoon at the local county jail. Is there anything i shoudl be prepared for? I have never even been near a jail. Will i get searched? Should i leave certain thigns out of my briefcase (stapler, clips etc) ??? Thought someone may be able to give me a heads up on this. The wife will be bringing his drivers license and all the proper identification that i will need.

Thanks, Mel

There's not a jail near us that I don't know about is there?

You're in Deltona too right?

I agree, that I would call ahead of time and see what you would be required of you. It is kind of scary to go behind those bars.

I interviewed at the maximum prision here in town and I was basically taken into a room and told to unblouse and was physcially frisked by a matron. Then being escorted through the yard through double bar doors. Freaky place!

I did not take that job nor did I want that job after that. The guy I interviewed with had a large bandage on his hand. The day before a prisoner had tried to push the guys hand out of a window.

Any belongings were left at the front. They told me that anyone can be gotten to and they don't trust even the guards. It is really a shame that noone can be trusted.

I have done weddings at a correctional facility (very interesting to say the least).
When I get there, they let me in via a different entrance than the regular visitors use.
I go through one of those scanners and they check my purse.
They have put an "alarm" on my waistband for me to press if I feel threatened at any time - although there was always an armed guard present.

I haven't been to a regular jail. I would leave anything out of your briefcase that could be considered a "weapon"

I went to the local courthouse yesterday, and I took my comb out of my purse and left it in the van (knowing from past experience that they considered the comb a weapon and have taken it from me until I was leaving). Thought I was covered! My purse went through the scanner and they asked to look inside. I had a bottle of nail polish in my purse - and they had to ask me to remove it, glass bottles are on the "forbidden" list. I had forgot it was in my purse.

Re: Jail Closing-Yes Mel...consider leaving your gun and

all drugs at home, be prepared to have each and every orifice searched. Maybe you want to reconsider the jail gig?

County Jail? I wouldn't be too worried.
