Of all the directories...

which ones have brought you the most business? Was it a free or a pay directory? How many pay directories have you signed up for? Are there pay directories that you joined that were worthless? What is your favorite one, the one that has given you the most benefit, either from business or clear factual info?

Just asking because I'm going through all my lists of dir that I have joined in the last few years, and I'm surprised at how little business I've gotten from some, and no business from others. I am not renewing with NNA when it comes up again in Jan. Not worth it, and I've had no calls off it in the last 6 months. 123 has gotten me lots of business, but they have a problem with the zip code search, won't show me as a notary for towns that are right next to me. I think most of my business has come from marketing. As for info, I've been doing this for a lot of years, so I didn't really need help with docs etc, and I have my own forms from the different title companies and law offices that I've worked for.

I will agree that most of my business comes from marketing and referrals. However, I paid to list with local directories (not notary sites), like BizMart, Market America, and Super Pages, and get work from those listings on a regular basis. I also joined the BBB and get pretty regular work because of it (I also market other BBB members). Of all the notary directories, I get most of my business from NotRot.

Re: BarbaraL_CA

Are you a member of the local Chamber of Commerce? I looked into it locally & it's pretty steep. If anyone has gone this route, do you find that it's worth the membership? I guess that's pretty relative, but I'm exploring my options.

I second NotRot, hands-down!

It's a competitor of Notary Rotary, so we can't type the name here. Go to Google and search "Notary Directory," it will come up on the first page.
