Oregon Notary - Member of SigningAgent - but not Certified

I am an Oregon Notary - almost 2 years experienced - have done almost 100 signings - I took membership of Signing Agent.COM --- NSA. I never got any call thru this membership. Does any Oregon Notary get calls thru them. I am only member - and not certified. Is certification worth the money and time?

Washington county and the whole Portland metro area is:

crowded. I am not sure that any one website is going to be the magic bullet. You need to pass your advertising dollars around to a slew of sites to include this one, for best effect. Has for being certified, I have found it to be of little use. Good luck and I'll see you in Hillsboro someday.

Is Certification worth it? Maybe.

You'll probably enjoy testing yourself. Just be aware that the NNA's test is California-centered. You may find some "correct" answers that are not correct for Oregon.

Some people want only Certified NSAs; other companies think that Certified NSAs are going to be more expensive. (The NNA touts the tests by claiming that Certified NSAs command more money. Seems self-serving to me, but that's ... oh, never mind.) I found that the test was interesting and worth the time it took to take it. In my Profile I explicitly mention that it has not, and will not, increase my fees.

Bottom line: Take it.

Re: Is Certification worth it? NO!

If you've been around for almost 2 yrs with over 100 signings under your belt then you'd be wise to put that money to marketing/listing your services like premier membership here. I'm not certified by anyone or in any way. I still have 2 more weeks before I reaching 2 yrs in this business.

I cover both WA-OR and I know the west side is pretty busy b/c I often turn down signings there due to the fact I hate I-5 & 26 (lived in PDX 15 yrs). The proof is I know there are 4 SS in PDX and the best of them all is Elite Closings in Troutdale by Darcy.

I agree with you. I enjoy working with Darcy and Theresa at Elite Closings. THEY ARE THE BEST SS you could ever work with.
