Question about FedEx labels
I've never had a FedEx account since I don't deal with e-docs much, but I received a new account that may require me to do my own FedEx labels. So I'm thinking about signing up. Will FedEx allow me to print out shipping labels that will be billed to the receiver, not my account? And do they have a minimum usage requirement? I likely won't be billing anything on my own account, it will all bill to the receiver.
Thank you in advance to the posters of NotRot. You are the best out there (regardless of what the whiners and people with their own agendas say).

You can get an account with FedEx (free of charge) and just have them drop ship to your office legal size envelopes, bills, and the pouches to put the bills in.
Never put your name as the sender; instead use the borrowers information as the sender. If you cannot get an account number to send the documents back just put an X on Bill To Recipient and drop it in a box. Just remember all loan documents are returned in Legal Size Envelopes!

Thanks Joan, I'm chuckling a little.
I appreciate your answer, I know you're being ultra helpful (as you always are). But after about 3000 loans, I do know how to fill out a label and use a legal envelope! LOL! I've just never gotten an online account so I wasn't sure what they would let me do online. But great info for newbies. I went ahead and signed up but I can see an issue with the labels. Like you, I never put my name and address as the sender. But I see that the pre-printed labels carry over my account info without an option. I like the pre-printed labels but I hate that it automatically puts my account info as the sender. Grrrr.

Al, how were you getting the large envelopes before?

I pick them up at the FedEx Kinkos office. They are stingy about giving them out, but they leave some near the drop box. I really haven't needed many envelopes, my companies provide them or I work with local companies that I can just drop the docs off.

Hi Al I would also like to print out the return part of the address bill and not have to hand address.
I must have made a mistake about a year ago with UPS because I wound up with the bills with all my info on the Senders part of the bill. I only use these to return to my tried and true accounts that I do business with over and over again.
Most of my return business is done with FedEx but I live across the street from a UPS Store so when I have UPS loan docs to return I walk the dogs across the street to return the docs.
I learned something tonight about UPS because I want them to pick up the docs at my front door tomorrow and when I called at 9:05pm their offices were closed. The policy of FedEx pickup seems to me to be available 24/7. UPS said they were closed at 12:00 EST

Never any problem with preprinted labels
I've been using FedEx/UPS online label processing for over 10 years. It always puts my account information on the label, but I am always sure to check the "bill to receiver" and ensure the account number is correct. I've only had one instance that the account number was incorrect (my fault), and the title company included the fees in the next check they sent me.

No minimum. Just need a credit card to open it. Makes it easy to order supplies. Makes shipping very easy - I prefer printing labels.

I usually have FedEx and UPS send 50 of everything so I don't have to worry about it for awhile. If you run short you can go to Kinkos (FedEx) and UPS Stores for emergency supplies. In Calif you will not find Legal size Envelopes in the drop boxes.

I am livid that FEDEx made me get an account in order to get supplies. The local place would NOT give me any.
While I do have an account number, there is no way I would ever have my name or account number on a label computer generated or not.
I hand write the labels, period. They charge $10 to fix a billing error. Not even gonna go there. The receiver is always the sender. I'm certain they would find a way to charge my account if I did it by some other means.

I agree I would never put my name as the "Sender" but if you have a problem/wrong/misspelled/etc address to the sender, the loan docs could go in a circle and not get returned in a timely manner!
I think using the borrowers name, address, and phone number can cure any potential address problems.

I create FedEx labels online using my FedEx account all the time and I do not worry about using my information in the "From" section. You are able to enter the recipients account number, and save the information for the company so you do not have to enter the information again the next time you need to create a label for the same company.
Note: You have to fill in the "Name" and "Telephone Number" sections of the address of the recipient, or the system will not process your request. If I haven't been given a person"s name as part of the mailing instructions, I put "Attn:" on the first name line, and "Post-Closing" on the second.
I also create labels using my UPS account, but it is a bit more complicated.

Ditto Lynn!
Don't know why some are so afraid and are negative about using FedEx online. I've never been wrongly charged unless I wanted to ship something personally using my account number. Liky LynnNC said, I have pretty much every TC/Lender addr where creating a label would take only couple clicks on the mouse.
UPS is a bit tricky, but atleast it shows if you're being charge on a shipment.

Yes, you can bill the receiver or a third party when printing your labels online. There is no minimum usage requirement. Every shipment I've done has been billed to the receiver or third party, and that's fine with them. Heck, they're making money, they don't care who pays the bill!! Like someone else mentioned, I used to avoid putting my name and address as the sender on hand-printed labels. Especially with UPS, they would always try to charge me $10 here or there for some reason or another, like an incorrect zip code, wrong account number, forgot to check a box, even though most of the time I hadn't done anything wrong, and every time I'd call them and they'd remove the charge, but it was a big hassle. Now that I do the labels online, this has not happened since. The reason is that when you enter the recipient's address and account number online, the recipient's address is verified, the zip code is verified, and the account number is verified, before you even print the label. So there are none of the errors that cause those fees to be charged in the first place. And if the recipient's account number isn't valid, you'll know immediately, before you even print the label. So it's also a good way to verify that the account number they provide is valid. I love doing the labels online. It saves me a lot of time. Once you enter a recipient's info, they're listed in your address book. Next time you send them a package, you just select them from your address book list and it fills in all the info automatically. I do all my labels online for UPS, Fedex and DHL now. Also, if you end up not needing the label (because they cancelled or refused to sign), you can go back in and void the label so it doesn't get billed.
