Weddings Charge In Florida

Hi All,

Would someone from Florida can tell me how much is the maximum a Notary Public can charge for performing a wedding?

$30
But you can charge travel fee. Plus for any other services you render on top of performing the actual ceremony.

Thanks Sylvia,

I am looking for a notary just to perform the ceremony (no more than 5 miles from my place) and the notary is charging me $150.00 which i think is not right.

Sorry, that's way too far for me, otherwise I would have been happy to help you out.

You say the wedding is 5 minutes from your home? How far does the notary have to travel?
Do you already have the vows or is the notary helping with them?
When I have done weddings, I have provided the vows (given the couple several choices), and I have taken digital photos with a professional digital camera and put them on a CD for the couple. I have made sure the license is sent back for recording before the 1 days are up (that is the notary's responsibility to return the signed, sealed license to the court house)
I have charged $100, which they all thought was very fair for the service they got - many gave me a "tip"

But $150 for just performing the ceremony is way out of line IMHO.

Re: Weddings Charge In Florida $20 max by law

Per the state of Florida "Notaries may charge up to $20 to solemnize a marraige (perform a marraige ceremony) http://www.myflorida.com/myflorida/government/governorinitiatives/notary/pdfs/ref_manual1-10.pdf

Sylvia is right, we can charge for any other services and for travel.

We have to be careful with disclosing the 'notary' fee. They are regulated by law, we can go for less or nothing but not for more.

Wrong, Keys_Notary

the law was changed over 1 year ago, but the manual has never been updated. Call the SOS. Maybe PAW will post the info. for us.

Re: Weddings Charge In Florida $20 max by law - law changed

We are allowed to charge what the clerk of the courts charge. This was raised to $30 about a year ago.
