is there a cockroach repellant out there anywhere?

A little late for this time, but for next! Half way thru the signing I see a brown cockroach crawling near my foot. I tap my foot to make it go away and it just stares me down! a few minutes later I see one on the couch to my left, a few mins after that ANOTHER one to my right UGGGG. I'm just sitting there praying none hitch a ride home with me, I still feel crawling on my skin... I'd really like to find something to rub on my briefcase and purse that will keep them away. It was a good paying job, but it will cost alot more to have my house de-bugged!

If your bag was on the floor Christi, it's a good possibility that one or two may have got into it. These little pests can hide anywhere. Time to get out the RAID.

I need to take flea spray with me on closings! Had a signing on Tues. night. Had to sit on the floor since there was no furniture and had fleas crawling on me! It closed REAL quick to say the very least! ps. does anyone know of a good tic repellant also!

I'm sorry but it is somewhat comical to read of the floor signing and other active creatures joining the signing such as cockroaches and fleas. I bomb my house once year whether it needs it or not. I do the first level and everyone stays on the top level then the bottom level gets hit.....Works wonders....

I don't need to bomb my house, thankfully!!!! I just need to take a good spray with me to closings and utilize when there are extra-unwanted critters at a closing! Gotta love being a mobile notary!

Cockroach Defense is a good offense OT

I use a product called DEMON. You can purchase it at a feedstore. I do not recommend it if you are concerned with chemicals. However, I was born in the "Dow Hospital" in Freeport, Texas and I lived in the shadow of the "Chlor 3" plant for the first 11 years of my life. We lived our lives by the alarms when there was a release. (For a visual, reflect on scenes from the Urban Cowboy.)

Right or wrong, I am more concerned with roaches than I am chemicals. Roaches can cause disease in a big way as well as can chemicals.

DEMON does not have a bad odor and it will remove the need for pest control visits for at least six years that I can attest to. If you can do this before you move into a place, get the product, mix it according to instructions and use a pump garden sprayer. Spray around the house, in cracks, crevices and on carpets. Remove pets and children, of course. Let it dry before resuming life in the area.

For $10 you have completed pest control for a good long while. You can order this product online as well.

Thereafter, the only bug you will see is a dead bug.

I also have done my own termite preventive maintenance using chemicals I have ordered and used according to instructions. It's not pretty, it's not glamourous but it's dang sure cheaper than the $1000 contracts I have been offered.

It's also been effective for me. Follow all safety precautions in handling chemicals.

Hey Brenda, we use Demon too.. it's great for fending off those pesky scorpions and spiders! I just hate it though when I see the little dead lizards because it takes them out along with the pests.

Now...if we could just figure out how to keep the coral snakes, copperheads and tarantulas away, I'd be a happy camper.

Re: Cockroach Defense - OT Dot, nearly every morning for a

year we talk briefly on the phone to exchange leads or to discuss network business and this is the first time the Demon subject comes up? We both should re-think our friendship strategy. Demon is the first thing we should have shared with each other. I am so ashamed.

I found that spraying "Bug Off" on my briefcase and purse usually helps to keep the critters away. I would usually spray right before I get out of my car.

On my last signing in Streetman, TX it kept the borrowers cat from trying to find a bed in my bag :-)

Back in the day before we used trash cans provided by cities to put out trash, I learned that roach spray like "Raid" would ward off animals from tearing up the trash.

Peppermint oil will also repell animals. I happen to keep it around because of my soap making. Ben-gay would probably also work.

Brenda my grandmother would go to the fee store to buy some sulfur and pour it around the house and put amonia (sp) in the trash.

Hi Brenda. It's good to know there's another soapmaker on the board. Do you order your lye online or buy it locally? I'm looking for a good (cheap) supplier. I just ran out of Red Devil this year, and I purchased mine a 2 or 3 years ago. Since it's no longer sold, I've tried to find suitable alternatives locally with no success. Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA
