the new girl on the block!
This seems like a simple question but i cannot seem to locate a clear answer. I am a notary for my company only. I received an application for final payment. My boss noticed the amount is wrong and she wanted to know if I can notarize the document with her hand written changes to the amount. She wants to cross out the wrong amount and write in the correct amount and initial the changes. Is this legal or do I need our client to create a new form reflecting the correct amount.
Thanks for you replies!

Sarah:
Your boss can line through the error, initial and date. Then write in the correct amount. You can then notarize your boss' signature. I hope this helps you.

Application for final payment on what? Can you contact the recipient of this document and ask what they would prefer? IMO and I'm not an attorney, with the approval of a title company we often make corrections to documents and the signer initials their correction.

It's a good thing you're in AK and not the Sacramento/Davis area of CA, your name is the same as a college student who helped murder an attorney here a few years ago. Google Sarah Dutra Sacramento to read the sordid details. Welcome to NotRot

Re: didn't mean to freak anyone out - rengel...
Kinsmanship with a notary who watches CourtTV.
Pity the notary who signs on as Scott Peterson!
Sarah - grow a thick skin and jump. You are welcome here.
