Re: Costco, Sams, Staples

I paid $50.00 to "join" Costco only because so many people on these boards said they had such good paper prices. The prices were the same or one penny cheaper. 81/2 x 11 at office depot goes on sale for $3.00 per reem and at Costco 800 pages are $5.99 so I paid $50.00 to save one penny, oh but wait I would only get 800 pages not one thousand. The wine is not less expensive and neither is anything else I looked at. They had jewelry that was absolutely nothing to look at and it was more expensive than Macy's. The place was mobbed with creepy looking people and the lines were long at checkout, I left without buying anything and hope to never go back, they could not pay me to go back, I would like to get the $50.00 back!

This reply is not correct

Reams are 500 pages and Costco in Calif does not sell individual reams of Legal size copy paper; you have to buy a full case of legal size paper at Costco (or at Sam's Club May 31, 2006 the last time I bought paper they were selling a half case for $17.23).
Staples and everyone else that I have found sells paper at a higher price than Sam's or Costco.
I haven't been to Costco in a few weeks and maybe I am clueless but I don't know where you can purchase a 500 page ream of paper cheaper than Sams or Costco.

I would appreciate anyone posting cheaper paper costs as I am sure most of us are in the position of over 90% of our signings delivered by Edocs.

Re: This reply is not correct

my reply is correct, I was not pricing legal size paper but did notice it was not much less expensive than Office Depot, maybe about $10.00 per full case but I realy did not think that amount of money would make it worth it to have to shop at that location. They were selling regular size paper for $5.99 for 800 pages. At Office Depot it was on sale 2 reams for $6.00.
In my area the Costco stores seem to carry lots of restaurant supplies. I looked around and
my assesment is correct based on my needs.

and CostCo told me I could have my money back if. . .

. . .not satisfied, and I wasn't. Too many things in bulk or large sizes, I have no extra storage space in my small house. CostCo didn't argue, gave me my money back.

Re: and CostCo told me I could have my money back if. . .

thanks for that information, I live alone in a smaller place and dont ever buy in bulk. I did think paper might make it worth it but dont want to drive around and around looking for a place to park and then stand in line behind 20 other people in order to save a few dollars.
I hated that store and want my money back!

Legal size paper

I just bought a 1/2 case, 5 reams for $17 plus some change at Sam's Club. A full case at Office Depot is almost $39. I saved $3-4 per case and can actually pick it up to carry it in the house. With a full case, I always had to have someone load it in my car and then I had to open the case and bring in a few reams at a time once I got home.

Leslie I couldn't agree with you more

I was relieved to see Sams Club sell a half case of paper. Its a struggle for most women to get a full case of letter/legal paper off the shelve and into the cart for check out. What I do is get a male (or women who looks stronger ) to take the case off the shelve and then I go to my car and open the case and take it 2-3 reams at at a time to put in my trunk.

I realize most guys have now gone to sleep with this scenario, but for women lifting a full case of letter/legal paper is difficult.

Joan...it is not easy for us disabled MEN to lift a full case of letter/legal paper. Due to my disabilities, I am not "supposed" to lift more than 5 lbs. FERGETABOUTIT when talking about paper. Thank G-d I have a D(arling) G(irl) who has more of a back than I do, and can lift a few more reams of paper than I.

Joan, a full case was costing $26. and change a Half case cost $17 and change. Your paying $8 more for it. I can carry it one ream at a time to save $8 bucks. Of course to be honest I have a 12 year old that job is perfect for. Ha ha.

Re: Legal size paper

I pay $26.77 per case at Sam's. I was paying around $36-$38 at Staples or Office Depot.

What I'd like to know is where do you find a 1/2 case? I'd sure love to get a 1/2 case instead of a full case. I end up driving around with a case of paper in my car until I use enough so that the box is light enough for me to carry into the house. A case of legal is very heavy!

but if you are smart, you will buy it bulk and get it for less. Office max usually has it for under $40 for a case.

I was printer shopping yesterday and the manager was a good friend of mine and he was telling me that he doesnt understand why Lenders/TC are still going Legal size cuz most of the printers made are for letter size now in days and in the future that is all it will be. Which was new news to me...and a thought for u all.

My local Sams club has quit selling 10 ream cases and went to 5 ream cases. The cost increase is about $10. I have called the 1800Walmart # that they gave me to complain but I don't think it will change. They had marked it down to $6 a case before they discontinued it. Of course the helpful person at Sams told me about this after the fact. I guess he needed to rub salt into my open wound. LOL

I buy all my paper at Staples because they deliver and they even call me before they're coming to make sure I'm there because I want to have them bring it in and down stairs to my office. There is no way I can carry a case of paper. I used to order it from Office max but they would just leave it on the front porch. Staples in my opinion has much better customer service and that is worth every penny to me. Sure it may cost a liitle more but the convienence is worth it to me.
