Another fun Hollywood moment for me

I had a signing this morning at a ritzy apartment building in Hancock Park. When I was leaving I was walking down the stairs toward the parking lot and there was a group of people milling around. There was a petitie black girl who seemed vaguely familiar to me, as did the blond girl she was standing with, but they were both wearing sunglasses so I wasn't sure if I knew them or not.

It didn't dawn on me who they were until I noticed a tall grey haired guy with a bowl haircut near them who was talking to a young guy with a shaved head. I immediately recognized them and realized I had just stumbled across the group of American Idol contestants. I'm guessing I found their temporary LA home.

Call me a dork, but it was a teensy bit exciting. I was tempted to ask for a few pictures to impress my pre-teen nieces, but didn't. I probably should have.

Hollywood Moments

I sat next to Michelle Pfeiffer on a flight to Orlando. She had her son in a carseat while the plane took off and then let him out of it and could not unhook the seat. The Captain and two stewardesses were all trying to pry this thing out and it was ME!! that had the idea of "If you put the child back into the seat, it will release the pressure on the seatbelt latch!" It came free!

Previously, we had a four hour delay where we had boarded and then de-boarded and then boarded again... something had broken on the plane. When I unhooked the carseat she flashed a smile at the pilot and said... "well maybe it would have saved some time to have HER fix the plane!". He wasn't very impressed and gave me a dirty look.

Re: Hollywood Moments

It's always fun seeing someone famous. We were shopping at Aardvarks in Venice and saw Sissy Spacek in the store. Also on the same day while standing in line at Pinks Hotdog Stand, Quinten Terentino (spelling?) pulled up in his jag, jumped out and grabbed an order at the pick up station.

I sat next to Alex Haley at a restaurant in Memphis Tn. once. Everyone was going up to him asking for his autograph.

Dabney Coleman

Dabney Coleman was sitting directly in front of us at the old Riverside Raceway in the late 80's. We didn't say anything to him because he was trying to be incognito. He had a baseball hat and sunglasses on. He sent his "people" to the snack bar instead of going himself. We realized it was him when the people in front of him turned around and he turned his head away from them right in front of us. We both thought aw let the dude come enjoy a race without being bothered.

Fun! It's always weird to see celebrities out of context. My local sighting hot-spot is the CostCo in Westlake Village. I've seen Kelsey Grammer (bought a Dyson vaccuum), Laird Hamilton (famous surfer), Greg Grunberg (Weiss on "Alias"Wink and a few others there. Gotta think that those who are smart enough to shop at CostCo must be cool people in real life. :o)

Jack Nicholson...

Saw him in a little town in central CO. Couldn't believe it was him until he grinned, winked and asked how I was. I didn't even have to ask for his autograph. It was fun.

Bonnie, I'm jealous...

Jack Nicholson is my all time favorite! I haven't met anyone famous (well except Arnold, he's much shorter than I thought BTW). However I know a friend of a friend of a friend that knows Kevin Bacon!

Re: Bonnie, I'm jealous...

I think he felt sorry for me cuz I know I had a really DUMB look on my face. You know, the kind you have when you aren't expecting to see anyone you know then there they are? LOL!
He was a very nice person, once I could mutter an intellegent word or two. He talked to me for about 20 minutes. As dumb as it sounds, I told him I thought he was a nice person and that he was one h*&& of an actor in my opinion. He said it's always nice to know what the real public thinks.

I turned down George Clooney

Does anyone remember the old mid-eighties sit-com called ER with Elliott Gould? Well, I went to see a taping of the show with my high school drama club. One of the young Docs on the show was George Clooney. When the taping ended we were getting autographs from one of the other actors. George had gone backstage. As I turned to leave two stage hands approached me and said that George sent them to get my phone number, they said he wanted to take me out. Well I had to run to the bus already because I realized I didn't see any of the people in my group still in the building. So I just repied "I can't, I gotta go or I'll miss my ride". If anything at least I was hot enough back then to catch his eye. But now that I think about it he was a bit old to be trying to get a high school girls number back then.

Yes, and I was, too. What's your point?

j/k - As and a matter of fact...I believe I would post that story at least once a week.

Re: CaliNotary, Another fun Hollywood moment

Thanks, it definitely adds occasional excitement to what might be an otherwise tedious day.

I'm just waiting to land a "big" celebrity signing. So far the best I've done is a channel 7 news anchor, a character actress who I only recognized once I saw her driver's license and heard her distinctive voice, and an actress who had a fairly noteworthy part in the "Barbershop" movies, but I only found that out after I looked her name up on IMDB.
