Another way to limit professional population: Notary Public

I thought that this was interesting. I just applied to take my insurance producers license and I was surprised that you have to be sponsored by an insurance agency just to be able to prepare to take the examinaton. Requisite sponsorship would certainly would put the brakes on the unbridled creation of new and unqualified Notaries Public. Can you imagine if you had to get two notaries to sponsor you before you applied for your test?

Wow! I didn't know you were into such things 0_0!

Actually its better than the real estate business in CA where you have to work for two years for someone else before you can be a broker. By the way did you notice that the NNA has dropped the $100K annual income ad campaign and is now touting "...how to earn $50, $60 and as much as $125 per signing" Now that is quite a different song they are singing. Sounds like theyve signed on to the $50 signing bunch!!

Double Check That, Charles

Our NJDOBI "looks" like it has the same thing, that an ageny has to sponsor you. But in reality, the fine print is that if you don't have an office sponsor, you can put yourself down and you become the "office".

In NJ, as an independent, you don't have to hang your license with a particular agency.

Check it out in your state, it may be the same, but they put up the false front.

Sounds the same as Florida..220 or 440 license must be...

sponsored by an agent which is hilarious since after I passed the 440 test I realized the agent I was working for knew nothing about the insurance biz. That is a good idea about further legitimizing the SA requirement..maybe if we can get an SA association up and running we could include that as one of the ideas...food for thought.

As for the NNA...they are an insult to every SA that ever joined. Needless to say my money won't be spent on signingagent.com or NNA renewals.

Re: Double Check That, Charles - I just completed the

application process and the State rquired that I list a sponsor. I didn't have a problem with it because I know a number of people who are fire and causalty brokers. Thanks for your input.
