Be a proactive problem solver

Local TC called yesterday. They had a "simple signing" for me.

They mentioned the magic words "older couple living in a retirement home." That set off my alarms: I knew there would mostly likely be problems with expired ID cards. TC had no idea that might be an issue.

Sure enough, borrowers' driver licenses expired years ago. Calif has a simple approach to IDing signers with expired IDs. My state's requirements are VERY tough.

I took a proactive approach to solve the problem. My plan B solved the problem. Docs were signed at 5pm.

Title co was grateful as ..er.. heck.

This is why this TC office ~~ALWAYS~~ calls me for out-of-office signings. And why they pay whatever I quote and say Thank You.

Manage your clients.

Market yourself at every opportunity.

Refuse work from Low Pays. They are not worth the trouble and they will not remember your heroics.

I like your attitude!

This is the behavior and actions of someone who plans to pursue this as a career, rather than a get rich quick scheme. You are the type of person who will do well in this field, or any field you choose. No one likes to deal with a problem-maker, but everyone loves to work with a problem solver. Newbies take note!

Re: I like your attitude!

I got a call from a co. been doing alot of work with recently, well, a mistake had been made (not byme) doc's were sent to me to fix. Long and short of it Mr. Bo wouldn't return my calls. Someone finally got ahold of him and wanted the doc's Fedex to him for Sat. delivery. Co. calls me at 4:50 " can you send them out tonight" "sure" I say. The mail place I go to p/u time is 4:45 I call "can you wait for me"? I ran down there in the rain and the guy was there waiting. That kind of service with a company (tc/some ss's will stand out) I will always try to be as service oriented as possible. It helps with future business.

John

The solution to identifying borrowers with expired ID cards varies widely by state. In California, it is simple. You can find it in your handbook.

The solution in Washington state is tricky. It is not in the handbook. A few years ago I spent several days tracking down solutions to this problem. The research included visits to various government offices and a university library.

My competition reads this board so I don't want to say what I did. I need to protect my competitive edge.
