Brother 5250DNT Issues w/ swiftview

I have spent the last 2 days trying to figure out why when I print a .prn file through Swiftview or Elynx or even Imprint, my printer doesnt prin't the from second paper tray. I made sure my driver was up to date. I even called tech support. Argh. The poor guy had no idea what I was talking about! I was assured that someone would call me back next week. Hmmmm.
It's not a huge problem...I can print on all legal if need be, but the point of the printer with a dual tray is to not have to!
If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

If I understand your question correctly ....

The problem may not be with your printer, rather the Swiftview program itself. If your printer is tray selectable by tray number or actual paper size, the problem could be in the set up for the program.
Your problem may be solved as simply as going in to the setup, and changing the way the program address's your printer. I believe that on the Swiftview site there is some information on this in the FAQ section and even a test file so that you can test the setup of the program for switching paper mid stream.
I dont use the other 2 programs, but the simular problem maybe the same with those as well.

Hope that helps

Not a printer or program error ...

A "prn" file is a print image file, and you're probably printing it in RAW PCL format. Therefore, the paper selection must be in the file for the printer to be commanded to extract the correct paper size. Unfortunately, there is no PCL standard command to tell a printer to select a second or third or any tray. HP uses one code (escape sequence), Brother uses a different code. Some manufacturers even use different codes on different models of the same printer.

Thus, a RAW PCL file is more than likely NOT going to select the proper size page. Therefore, you should print everything on legal size.
