Computer slow!

I need help. My computer is running really slow. Can someone help me or give me any suggestions on what to do? I takes forever just to pull up my email.

Check for spyware

Spyware surreptitiously installs itself onto your computer as you surf ther web.

It uses lots of your computer's resources and slows it down.

Search for the following free programs, install, update and run.

I use:

Spyware Blaster
Spyware Doctor
Spybot Search and Destroy
Ad-Aware

My husband (a design engineer) always recommends friends/family check memory availability. Sometimes needing to install more memory is the best fix for a computer. He also asks our kids "when did you last defrag?"

I have Norton, AbsoluteShield, and SpyBot. Isn't that enough? And how do I use the "Window Washer" Korey? Thanks for the help. Oh, I just did the "defrag", and I have 59% free space.

Another thing that helps me is Registry Mechanic. It seems to take care of the little bugs that are constantly developing with Windows XP. I posted once about it, they have a free version that you can try.

The Windows Washer is a separate program. It doesn't actually come with Windows. I have Norton System Works 2006 and they offer a tool similar to Windows Washer called Norton Cleanup
