Curious Question...

I know many of us have told the "no-so-good" companies that we would work for them if payment was received BEFORE the signing began.

How many (if any) have been paid before leaving for the appointment?

Was it a check via overnight? Paypal?

Just curious.

I have requested payment BEFORE the signing, but it has never happened. The only thing that has happened is that the company would send me (the attorney) the check within a shorter time period rather than what was depicted on the contract.

In the few years in business only 1 refi was paid the same day as the signing (paypal) I've been paid for services the same day for a ton of Medical Records work from lawyers.

I work for one local Title Company now that pays me as soon as I bring the package back to their office. It's great.

Have never been paid before the signing by anyone.

I have never been paid before the signing, but I have a local realtor that hires 2 times or more
per month to close their deals, and at the end of the signing I see 2 100 dollar bills in the table.

When I first started years ago, all payments came in the package with the documents.

Due to scummy, dishonest notaries, who took the checks and ditched the docs, that practice stopped.

It's really too bad that it did. It was much easier to be paid at the time of service.

Imagine how much time you would save from the clerical work of running your outstanding A/R if we were still paid that way today.

I Ask for Payment for "Travel Only"for All my "Mobile Calls"

For Private Party/Mobile Calls, after I explain that my travel fee is separate from the notarized signatures, I ask for the travel fee up front and get paid with a paypal link (that also accepts Visa, MC, etc). So far, so good here in So Cal , especially since I have had a few no-signs due to ID issues or other.

I've also received a check for payment with the package for Heir Buy-Outs, Utilities Recovery, and a few other odd notarial transactions. kelly

Re: Thinking about using PayPal for payment. Is it worth it?

I'm an ebay-er from way back, so I've had a PayPal account for a long time. I am so confident, we put a Paypal/Visa/MC link on our website and it's been working out great. The instant notifications and accounting reports are exacty what we were looking for.

PS I see that you offered a testimonial on GoGet - terrific site; the President, Sharon Hassler, is one smart lady. Email me directly if you want to yak about it.
