Disappointed in a certain title company

Okay, I've decide I won't say their name. But those that work with them will know who I'm talking about. It's so sad to see what they've become. Over the last few months, this title company has started these worthless phone calls. Now mind you, we already confirm everything with their signing company (I still love this signing company, one of the rare good ones), and the signing company has someone who also confirms that we've received docs. Now the title company has started with the following "calling to tell you I'm sending docs, calling to confirm you received the appointment, don't forget if the HUD says to collect money, collect money, don't forget to get copy of driver license." For the amount of signings I do for them, this has resulted in about 20 unneeded calls a week. Been doing it flawlessly for them for two years, probably have done 1000 signings for them, but because of idiots who don't know how to do this job, they've decided to treat everyone like this, regardless of your history or quality of work with them in the past.

Today was the kicker. I have an appointment for Friday, borrower calls when she gets my message to say she doesn't have a valid I.D. She declines to go to the Sec. of State before Friday to get it renewed. I called the title company, they tell me I can I.D. her with a utility bill! She says she has been a notary in Ohio for five years and has done this before. She says if I won't I.D. the borrower this way, they'll find someone who will. I tell her it's illegal in Michigan to I.D. this way. She understands that I won't do this, but makes no secret that she'll find someone who will. I'm so disappointed in this title company.

Write a letter, make a phone call...

To whomever you can think of in a postion of authority (maybe several) and TELL them, Al. Tell them your history and the effect the new system of babysitting has had on your time, all because of a few bad apples. (Can't speak to the utility bill ID, that's a new one!)

It may do nothing at all, or your complaint may be one of many, and I'd be willing to bet there are TC employees that don't like taking the time to babysit either.

If no one ever says anything, things don't change on their own. Just my personal philosophy but it seems to be true in business as well.

Aww, you should know me by now.

I spoke to a manager at the title company yesterday. He was a buffoon. A typical bureaucrat with no real world experience. He said that's the way it is; they deal with too many signing agents to be able to treat anyone differently. He couldn't wrap his brain around how they were bogging down the process with nonsense and duplication. Prior history didn't matter, flawless work didn't matter, just follow the rules blindly because I work for them. He actually said that the call to tell us the docs are being overnighted was "essential." Yep, essential. Like we don't know docs are coming for a signing where you have to have, you know, something to sign. It didn't matter that these calls were disrupting other signings. And if I chose not to answer the calls, even during other signings, he'd have me removed from the signing services call list. His lack of common sense was astounding. AND he used the word "irregardless" in a sentence, always the telltale sign of someone trying to sound more educated then they really are. The word you're looking for Bureaucrat Boy is "regardless." Irregardless is the trailer trash word that means the same thing. Ok, maybe the irregardless thing is irrelevant.

Re: Aww, you should know me by now.

Unfortunately, the cream of the crop in business is not found in title company managers.

Irregardless, you did your best to show them the error of their ways. Guess they can deal with the consequences, irregardless.

You are correct, sir!

--regarding the telltale sign of the 'irregardless' user.

And about ignoring calls from SS/TCs during signings: they are probably the same company that instructs the agents to turn off their phones during signings, to focus on the borrower and the process.

Of course, I leave MY cell phone on at all times. It's the equivalent of a shopkeeper locking his doors when s/he is helping a customer already in the store.

Ludicrous.

You might want to read post # 102600 about this subject...

it's about how a SA reported a SS to the IRS because of all the callbacks. The SA stated he/she should be considered a regular employee. They ruled in the SA's favor and now the SS has to pay all of her taxes on the income she earned. If you print the post; maybe send it to the TC Manager. Maybe he will get that one. If it were me, I'd go to your state website for Secretary of State Department of Corporations, look up the owner's of the TC and send them the letter.

I doubt the owner's know what the Manager and the SS are up to and if they do then you should educate them about the laws. JMHOSmile

With the NNA pumping out more and more inexperienced SAs daily, I'm seeing more and more of this babysitting trend.
