Do as we say, not as we do ...
I find it ironic that yesterday before leaving for a signing, I get a babysitting call from TC advising me of the importance of accuracy and how many document mistakes they had returned to them during the month of February. This is a TC that I've previously signed several packages with and have never had to go back out because of an error on my part.
I was told to check, recheck and triple check before returning package. The conversation in itself is not ironic. However, their own confirmation sheet is riddled with errors. BOs home phone is actually that of his broker, and not noted as such. After three times of calling this number and being hung up on, someone in the office finally took some pitty on me and took the time to find out that BO was actually a client. Broker is the one who had to give me a contact number for BO.
Signing was prescheduled for 9:00 a.m., when UPS doesn't even get to my house until after 9:00 a.m. I always verify BOs address, but when meeting at a biz, I normally don't. Yesterday was not the day to have not verified address. After 20 minutes of driving up and down the block in search of the address I finally park in an open parking meter a block away and plug the meter, only to find that there was no office building with a street address number of "206." I call broker to find that I'm supposed to be at "105" and not "206."
I added a surcharge to my invoice for their failure to check, recheck and triple check the confirmation.

this happens to me often, a title company has recently started making the extra calls and e-mails and their own information is filled with mistakes, one for tomorrow has both of borrowers phone numbers wrong and the address and zip code to not exist anywhere in my area. So far they have not been able to get me the correct information.

I'm sure they will ignore my surcharge, but the point was made because of their own instructions "you will be docked for this" and "you will be docked for that."
BTW, this is a TC that goes after the lowballers (spelled inexperienced) notaries. Thus, thier own greed is the cause for the numerous packages returned with errors. They get exactly what they pay for.

Good for you! I really enjoy reading all those instructions that make me feel like an idiot, they must really intimidate the newbies with all those threats. I also love those that require all the not'd docs get faxed back. Whenever I get those now I immediately call back and request a new conf with a $15. fee included. If I'm refused, as was once, I give them two choices, you guarantee that I'll be paid without faxing multiple docs or find another notary.

Good for you Satomi and Charm. I charge $25 for faxbacks. I also give them an ultimatum concerning no faxbacks, payment for faxbacks or other notary. Only one time was I dumped for another notary. Usually I'm given the approval for no faxbacks.
