EUREKA !!!

A while ago, I posted a question as to how to get an outstanding payment from one of our very own- a Notary Rotary member. REGINALD BALDWIN of Durham NC contacted me about doing a signing here in Charlotte, NC in JANUARY and basically avoided all my invoices. Another Notary from the Board gave me some GREAT ADVICE on how to nicely but professionally force payment--- Well, Mr. Baldwin emailed me today to say that "the check is in the mail". I think it was the fact that I emailed him a collections letter and copied the SECRETARY OF STATE's NOTARY DEPARTMENT on all my correspondence! His excuse- he forgot my last name when he went to get the money order. NEvertheless, I at least received a promise to pay and I thanked him kindly by replying to his email AND copying the Secretary of State with his written promise to pay! THANKS NOTARIES FOR YOUR ADVICE!!!!!

Glad I could help out,

if this is one of the folks I provided a collections outline from yet another notary from another forum. He said it had never failed him! I hope I never have to use it myself, but it is nice to know how effective it is!

Mistarella - You were complimented Again on another board!

And I agreed with that poster as well. Smart call.

(As you know) It's not rocket science

I don't know if it's because I am getting older, or the newbies are getting younger or because common sense is no longer common, but some of the unreasonable expectations and sense of entitlements I "hear" on these forums just blows me away. Life is too short to spend it worrying about those things we have no control over.
I tend to agree with your posts, too, Kelly. We must be of the same generation, or at least similar educational backgrounds.

My apologies for actually expecting someone to PAY !

Pardon me Mistarella: I didn't know it was unreasonable or took a sense of entitlement to actually EXPECT people to pay you for services rendered! As people who provide a service granted to us by the State in which we live, we DO have control over certain aspects of our business! Is it unrealistic for power companies to EXPECT payment after you use their electricity? Since when does educational background have anything to do with being an SA? We all took the same test and passed-- My Masters degree has nothing to do with my nNotary biz. Maybe when I get as old as you-I may not look at thinkgs the same. By the way-- It wasn't you who even offered me any advice so don't be so quick to toot your own horn.

I wasn't referring to you, notary_nc

When I was speaking of a sense of entitlement, I was responding to Kelly's post:

Sorry you misunderstood, and I am glad that even though it wasn't my colleagues advice (not mine) that was effective for you, you are getting your fee. I had so many people asking for that specific advice on collections, I thought you were one of them. This particular other poster we were referring to on another forum was expecting advice and support on what I consider a ridiculous situation, and that is what I was specifically referring to. Peace to you, and good luck.

You've definitely misunderstood, notary_nc

Mistarella was NOT speaking about you!
