Is California Overnight always slow
or is it just when they deliver to AZ? Pkg was suppose to be delivered this AM of a noon signing. Still no delivery. As I was typing this, the lender just called me after calling CO to track the pkg and now it won't be here until Monday. California Overnight dropped the ball...

Re: Is California Overnight always slow-Interestingly
I had two different companies this week sending out docs, say they were going to use California Overnight because they think they are faster...I know FedEx has been really late at times, mainy due to weather conditions, FedEx accidents on the mounatin again due to weather related issues etc. it would kinda be nice to get a phone call.....so when I don't have docs on the day expected certainly by 4, I know I'm in trouble. Now the FedEx guy knows to take the access road to get to the house but Ca Overnight clearly doesn't and I see by the footprints(poor guy or gal) they walk up the driveway(in three feet) to deliver the other day.

Oh no! A three footed driver!
JK - LkA...
Two actual points -
1=LSO.com (Lone Star Overnight) is faster here...deliveries by 7:30 am.
2=Tx condo dwellers just don't have the kind of trouble CA landed gentry do with deliveries. Middle class has its privileges.

LkArrowhd/CA.....I heard you got hit with a good
snow storm last weekend, too. We live in the PX area but went up to our cabin in northern AZ for the weekend. We got snowed in and couldn't get home until Tuesday. We got 4" of snow and had to dig out 70' of driveway just to get to the road. I'm from AZ and have never seen that much snow....I just don't know how people can live where it snows like that in the winter.

Re: Correction...4 Feet of snow!
Boy, I was gonna say, 4 inches and you couldn't get out. Well, 4 FEET is a BIG difference. Coming to FL from 23 years in NH, I can appreciate what you're saying. Snow is a four letter word that is best found in the dictionary, as far as I'm concerned. It's pretty, but becomes pretty awful awfully quick.

Re: Correction...4 Feet of snow!
The first day we got there there was only about 3 inches of snow on the ground. We went to Home Depot and bought a snow shovel (to make a path for our chihuahua's to go potty). Good thing we bought the shovel because we really needed it to dig out of the snow by the next day.

Re: Correction...4 Feet of snow! Yes I thought you must
have meant 4 feet not 4 inches, 4 inches is a walk in the park to shovel but not 4 feet, hire the plow guys well worth the money and less stress

Re: LkArrowhd/CA.....I heard you got hit with a good
We got 3 feet last weekend, that is too much for both my hubby or myself to shovel, we'd have a heart attack I'm sure. In fact two folks entered our local hospital for just that last weekend.
Did you mean 4 inches of four feet?
We got a couple inches last night, but I just shoveled them a bit ago.
Well, as for hard winters and snow, I don't think that is the case for us here in Lake Arrowhead, in fact this will most likely be our winter, what we have gotten this last week. I hire a guy to plow the access road and driveway with the snow we got last week. Snow is pretty when falling, and lovely on the ground when fresh but the minute the cars hit the road it becomes ugly. I will do the access road a bit later so hubby can drive down it when it gets home later today. I did the decks because Mr. Chandler the dog loves his deck. I love where I live because it is quiet and peaceful, away from most nonsense. I have four empty lots beside me, the forest creatures, I adore and the lake I love to sit on the deck and have a cup of coffee. I had wanted to live here for many many years, my hubby said no, he was not going to drive the mountain road, I got cancer and within 6 months had my mountain home. However hubby's first words after last weekend's snow, ok that's it, lets sell. I quickly called the plow guy and the road was great the next day. I would hate to leave my home, I do enjoy it but we must all be happy. I work during the day in a busy city, awful traffic too many people and I can't wait to head home. And Brenda Tx, we are very very average income folks ourselves, worked all our life, we bought our home at a very good time.

I've found them to be the most reliable, and the cheapest.
One TC I worked for ONLY used Cal Overnight for both reasons.

Well they deliver quickly here but the majority of my deliveries are FedEx in fact Lance my delivery person is barely speaking to me anymore, since I leave him notes that I guess offend him we I don't get my delivery....and he refused to leave my last phone at the door.

Re: Wow, nice guy, your fedex man! Actually he is a real
nice guy, but I could not resist telling him how upset it makes me when I don't get my packages. I did get reimbursed by FedEx for a package that was delivered late but not without a fight. I missed a weekend of no phone use, thanks to him not delivering the newly ordered phone and just leaving it at the door as he generally does but because phone company requested it be signed for upon delivery, he decided not to leave it. I of course said, Lance you know better then that and is FedEx trying to upset me or they just want me to lose money. He took offense to this, I don't blame. The last snow storm, 2 of their trucks brokedown on the mountain, two had to be towed, went into snowbanks, once again date sensitive material not delivered to me in time but then again Lance can't help what mother natuure gives us, had to haul my behind down to Redlands to collect docs but then again ss was great and paid for this......So he is a nice guy, just doin his job and proud of the company he works for..... Come spring I'll perhaps make something yummy for him and he'll be ok again....or maybe not..... Sun is currently in and out...

((I'll perhaps make something yummy for him and he'll be ok again....or maybe not..... Sun is currently in and out...))
What kind of yummies? I think that is an EXCELLENT idea.
I tend to purchase Messina Hof wines for gifts to hand out but feel that is inappropriate for my delivery and solid waste men since they drive. Not that I am trying to police them but I just feel funny about handing that to them.
Solid waste truck drivers need love too. When my husband was alive, I got to know so many of the city employees and they really need a perk. They always took care of my "cans." Now, I just have a few guys who drive up and pick up the dumpsters from the little fenced area. But, they still need a thank you.
Homemade soap in this case (my usual gifty hand out) seems mean and I am not trying to be jokey. Courier men like soap.
Cash maybe?? A gift cert?
OMG - from FEDEX to Solid Waste men. I digressed...but what else is new?

Well, let me see, Lance is a handsome young man, perhaps in his 30's, he is very warm and friendly, his body very fit I would suspect he eats properly and works out, so I'm thinking no junk food items. For the most part he does an outstanding job delivering, as for the weather on this mountain, it can be brutal and I applaud any of thepeople who deliver to the mountain. Most folks seem to enjoy Starbucks so I thought a Starbucks card. We do have a Starbucks on our mountain, he will have a variety to choose from, I think he might enjoy that.

Starbucks. Perfect.
My FEDEX man is no hard body Lance, but he is in his 40's -- I'll cut him a big slice of slack on the fit.

Susan, I have to go to town right now for more liquds - soup and sprite. I am so sick of this house, If I feel a touch over half-dead from this wirus virus I am going to pick up Starbucks cards right now and have them on hand. That is really a great idea. No I'm not...I just realized I'd infect the student population.
I am going to try to order online. I have a tendency to forget really good ideas like this.
My niece always gives me Starbucks. I don't know why I did not think of that.

Re: Wow, nice guy, your fedex man! Nice, what yummies?
Yes, it is a great idea, when I have no clue what to give someone I always opt for that, folks do seem to enjoy it. It's a nice gift and a way for one to treat themselves to a little something special one day where perhaps that may not ordinarily do. I myself seldom ever get sick, but I was struck with some bug a few weeks back, I had no clue what was happening but just felt lifeless. I began chatting with other friends experiencing the same symptoms and as they suggested it did pass but it was about 5-7 days in the running. I always try to make sure I get my sleep I often feel that keeps me well. Rest Rest Rest one of the best sources for good health in my mind. Be well!
