California requires a Notary list each document notarized in her journal. No matter how many documents a Notary Notarizes each much be listed individually.

I agree with Susan, however to clarify, you don't need the persons signature more then once. In one entry, list all the documents you had to notarize. If you don't use NotRot's MoJo (journal) the I highly recommend that you buy one. I haven't come across a journal that is better yet!!!

I'll have to disagree with Korey about the signature. I used to just get one signature also until I was asked to provide a copy of a line in my journal of a particular document signed. That is I had notarized a number of documents for a signer and later the courts requested a photo copy of the line showing only one of the deeds. I know it seems like overkill but it is important to have a signature for each notarized document in your journal.

"....the courts requested a photo copy of the line showing only one of the deeds. "
How would the court respond to NotRot journal where you mark the documents notarized with a check mark? The line entry shows ALL the documents notarized by one signer. Just curious, because I really like the NotRot journal.

Re: Personally I think NotRot Journal should be good for all
states. I love it! It saves so much time and space.

I'm not sure. You might check with the Secretary of State. I use my satalite office on Spring Street in Los Angeles. I'm an LA County Notary. I can walk in and talk with someone behind the counter. That is nice then you can show the journal to them and ask their opinion. I'm sure it is fine. It may be just in the way you use it.

Re: CA NotRot Journal Users....
Thanks Joan for confirming state approval of NotRot journal. I'm curious if any notary in CA had to show a copy of a line entry using NotRot journal?

Of course you are correct.

Can you direct me to the CA law that states ....
that a signer must sign in a notary journal for every document notarized? I just quickly glanced at the CA notary Handbook and couldn't find it.
I would find it to be monotonous if I had to have the signer sign my journal for every little document I have to notarize.......................
I'm not from CA.. this is just for educational purposes

I have the signer sign once and list all the notarizations
in the "document" area. I am almost done with my NNA journal and am so excited to start my new MoJo tomorrow. It looks so neat and easy to check off boxes rather than having to list everything.

Re: I have the signer sign once and list all the notarizatio
I had to appear in court on a real estate suit to testify on what documents I notarized and that it really was the person. I use the Notary Rotary Journal. No one had a problem with the way I recorded the documents that were signed.
