Miss appointments
I've been working as a notary for a year now.My question for today is that how much time is required for a notary to stay at the signing.Cuz sometimes the people take their sweet time in reading every single word and take hours. That way i miss my other appointments.

I usually plan on 45-60 minutes. I never give them their copies until we have finished signing, I mention a few times how they will have plenty of time during the RTC period to go over the docs and ask any questions of their LO. During the course of the signing if they have questions and can't reach their LO I refer them again to the RTC, that's what the RTC period is for.

I set aside one hour for the signing unless it's a reverse. Sometimes it takes less time and sometimes more. I always tell BOs about the 3-day RTC before they sign one page. If I have back-to-back appointments, especially at EOM, I tell them when we first set down that my next appointment is at such and such time. If I find that they are readers, I remind them again of the 3-day RTC. However, if they want to read each and every word, they have that right.

In over two years of doing this, I've only had one borrower that took over two hours because she wanted to read everything. Fortunately I had no appointments after hers. I think she also wanted me to think that she was smart to read everything. She was a real PITA.
But I now know to "take charge" and I try to keep the closing moving, and like the others, keep reminding them about having three days to read everything in detail.
