My invoices are ugly and boring...

I use excel. Anyone want to fax me a copy of theirs so I can see what I'm missing on mine? I know there are templates out there, but I love excel and want to keep using it. Your format doesn't have to be in Excel. I just want to see some different variations. Thanks!

Hi Cherilyn:

Microsoft Excel has excellent templates on their site that can spif up your invoices. I use one and it does make it look professional. I'm a stodgy old New Englander and so my invoices look stodgy but I believe one has to be careful about the impression you wish to make on your clients when yo send out materials. I want my invoices to create that impression that I want to get paid - no BS! Smile

I agree about having your invoices send the right impression about you (and of course wanting very much to be paid in a timely manner) BUT I also think that a blank piece of paper that just has whom it's from, who is to pay it, the amount/date/last name etc...isn't doing anything uplifting to the person for whom it's intended. So all you catchy logo people, or those that have mountain scenes atop your invoices, I say hurrah! Way to make some poor cubicle worker's day happy.

Spread the love, cheers!

I emailed you my invoice, Cherilyn!

Hi Cherilyn!

I just emailed you a copy of my invoice. It's a Word document. I downloaded the template form Microsoft's website. They have a ton of free templates you can download.

I finally came up with my design based on a combination of other people's invoices too! Smile

My favorite feature on my invoice is having the tracking number and shipping method (Fed Ex, UPS, DHL, etc) on the invoice.

And I get the file number and loan number from the HUD. That way if you're dealing with a title company, they have THEIR file number to refer to too.

Hope this helps!

Kind Regards,

Kristen - Florida Smile

Download Free Invoice Templates

Here's the link to the free templates for Microsoft Word.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/results.aspx?Scope=TC&Query=invoice

I started with one of the "blue gradiant" templates, then made some adjustments to fit with my notary business.

Hope this helps everyone!
