National Signing Service, CA
I got a phone call, which I answered, at 3:36 p.m. this afternoon to handle a closing for today or tomorrow (with e-docs). I advised that I was not available today, as I did not expect to get home until about 8:30 p.m., but that I had plenty of time tomorrow. I was told that she would e-mail me the confirmation (she confirmed the address) and would let the borrower know that I would contact them this evening or tomorrow morning to schedule the time. I got a call from the same telephone number at 3:44, but when I tried to answer, they had hung up. When I got home, I had no confirmation (and no docs). I did a reverse number lookup and got the name "Wiens, Jordan & Vanessa" with an address in Rancho Palos Verdes: I called and a man with a hispanic accent answered "National Signing Service". He did not know who had called me but advised that they had a closing in my area scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow (with another notary). (I don't believe this was a fee issue, because I had accepted their offer, as this was the first time I had been contacted by them.)
I think I'm lucky and dodged a bullet! Anyone else have any experience with this outfit?

Mary, I know that there is a lot of double booking going on out there. I have had it happen to me not once but twice with different agencies and not with this company but with a couple of others. The second one called back to cancel, I asked if I was double booked and she admitted that the TC's have been double booking the SA's who then start searching for notaries...I guess whoever books firsts, wins. Good for the TC's not for us or even the SA's who are the one's that get the bad rap because of the cancels. I know of one SA that refuses to double book, and I love working for that company.
