New Signing Agent
Is it worth getting started as a signing agent with real estate on the downslide? I'm located in Missouri. How much of a demand is still out there?/

There is always a demand, the question is.... what is the supply?
Use this website and a few others and search see how many notaries are listed in your area. All of them will be your competition.

I'm not sure....
What has your research into this profession told you? (drum roll please)

Re: I'm not sure....
it tells me the demand was there from 2002 until present, but unsure what the near future holds. I'm just looking for some input from a seasoned veteran.

hehe, I prefer Chipotle
If your research says that its still a viable opportunity, and you feel that you will reap enough benefits from starting in your area... then go for it, and Good Luck to you.
If your research says it isn't a viable opportunity, then don't go thru with it.

Depends on how YOU equate worth! What are the conditions in your area? Research the area and make an informed determination based on the potential for your services.
Good Luck!!

There are a couple of theories - 1) the market is slowing down and there will be less work; 2) the market is slowing down and as the interest rates go up, people will need to re-fi, so there will be more work; 3) none of the above - you'll need to market your skills aggressively in order to make money, no matter what the market is like.
#3 makes the most sense to me.
Hope this helps - regardless of hot sauce or chipotle. My personal favorite is Szechuan.

I know you're probably not getting the exact answer you were looking for. At least you're asking this question before jumping in, which is more than I can say for most new signing agents. Do a notary search - entering your zip code here and at other listing sites is a good start. Maybe talk to some title or mortgage companies in your area and ask them what they think about the market there. My unscientific answer to you is that it's a very tight market right now, and if you decide to do this, you better be darn sure you're willing to out work, out market, and out think a lot of competition.
