Notaries Nationwide - Beware!
Just a reminder for you to beware of this company. I did a medical affidavit for them the last of January and have not been paid. They do not return phone calls and this morning when I called they would pick the phone up and then hang up. They did this 6 times and I finally gave up.

Wow do I ever feel lucky. It took them a while to pay, but I did finally get paid. Did you ever talk to Blanca?

No, they will never answer the phone or return messages. I just looked at their BBB record and they have no complaints. I am going to file one, but if I remember correctly, one time when I did this on a different company, the BBB would not accept it because it was a payment issue. Does anyone know about this? If we can, anyone who has had trouble with them, needs to file a report. It's terrible they have a clean record when if fact I know I'm not the only one who has had trouble with them.

Cindy - (Read #3 first.)
(1) They also do loan signings, right? If so, try to figure out where they do the most of their business (maybe the state they are in) and draft a letter to the Mortgage Bankers Association of the state as well as the land title association in that state. Ask them to put it in their newsletter that this particular signing service is not paying the notaries. Give details. That the amount is so small is very telling about them.
(2) If you can remember the name of the lawyer or lit support firm that hired them, that's a definite target for reporting them. Draft a similar letter. If you cannot remember, I know you are likely to have a good relationship with the doctor's office...they might be able to tell you.
(3) Before you write a letter to NN and fax it to them and tell them you are going to do the above if you do not hear from them w/i 24 hours.
(4) Also, tell them you will submit it to VRing's newsletter. She reaches many notaries every month and they know this.
If I think of anything else, I'll call you. All this is a PITA. It's part of our overhead and why we cannot give away our services. You already know that though...let me belabor the point: One bad apple can spoil the bushel.

Cynthia, I totally understand your frustration. When you visit the BBB.org website, there are a list of disputes they DO NOT handle. One of thise is:
"Complaints relating solely to collection of debts when no other buyer/seller issues is involved."
Therefore, instead of sending a compalint in the you have not been paid, you can send in a report that they are not returning your calls, etc. (services agreed to provide).
"The complaint alleges a problem experienced with the services or products that the company provided or agreed to provide"
Hope you get paid!!!

That is good info to share I just completed a closing for them back on the 10th of this month, I will make sure to stay on top of collecting payment if it goes over 30 days. I will mark their file with a question mark.
