OT: Let's dish!!

Disclaimer: I swear I am in NO WAY affiliated with the organization I am mentioning below.

BUT, I just felt that I absolutely HAD to share this with everyone, since it would be ideal for many of us. Please check out www.letsdish.com. There are only a few in several states, but as the trend kicks in, I"m sure more franchises will open up around the US.

Here's the scoop...you pick either 8 or 12 dishes out of 14 or so that they offer in one month. You pick a date and 2 hour time slot and sign up online. In the DC area, we pay about $166 for 8 dishes, 4-6 servings per dish. For smaller households, you are allowed to cut each dish in half once. So, you could walk away with 16 "dishes", good for a married couple with one young kid at home (or even for singles, with good lunch leftovers!).

You go into this store where it's set up like a large commercial kitchen with all kinds of food stations. They give you all the items you need, from large freezer baggies to spices and every ingredient for the dishes that you pre-selected. You go from station to station, packaging your "dish" (mostly NOT pre-cooked foods). You wrap it all up in neat freezer baggies, and they give you a sticky to put on the outside of each one with cooking instructions and suggested small side dishes for that particular meal. Load it all into your cooler (that you brought with you), go home and put in your fridge/freezer. For the next 1-2 weeks, you have everything you need for a healthy dinner that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less.

We did it this week and have been LOVIN' it. Definitely a winner in my book. Hope you enjoy it too!

There is something like that out here called Dream Dinners. Some of my friends swear by it. I however, like to cook. But great for the busy family.

Re: OT: Speaking of food...Cyndi

I made the corned beef last night...mmmm. Thought I made enough for left overs. I was wrong. The kids went crazy. Hubby loved it. Really wishing I could have made some homemade reubens. DARN! Thanks though.
