O/T: Cordless telephone that works well?
Does anyone have a cordless phone they are really satisfied with? I have been wanting to use a cordless phone at home for business but even when using the 5.8 mhz phones, people on the other end of the call have trouble hearing me. (I'm by no means a "soft-talker." Even my wireless (read: cellular) phone works better.
I have tried Panasonic 5400-series and I am dissatisfied. Are Uniden or V-Tech brands any good? How about Motorola? Thanks!

I too have had problems with buying phones that are good. I now have the V-tech 5.8ghz with two phones, and I have had no problems yet. For a while there, I was buying phones and taking them right back because they had real bad static.

Panasonic KX-TG5050
Thank you, cfw. That appears to be a discontinued model, but I will look to see what is replacing it.

Re: Panasonic KX-TGA230B
Our son gifted us with this one perhaps 2 years ago during the holidays, it works well. It is prefect for us, we live in a tri-level and one system stays on the lower level of the house, the second on the main level, it offers a intercom so you can call to the other level by dailing 2 and vice versa, very handy. Happy with it, offers all sorts of features.

That's to bad. I just got mine at the Air Force base near me a few months ago. Paid a good price too.

If you are interested, you can order one from ebay.

I have a V-Tech 5.8 with 2 handsets. It works well where ever I am around the house and the intercom feature is handy and reliable when calling upstairs or downstairs. The other nice thing is that they have a customer loyalty discount if you register the phone and at some time need to replace your phones. I received a pretty nice discount from them when I replaced my first V-Tech. I would recommend buying directly from them, not through E-Bay.

V-Tech and Panasonic and "Thank you, all!"
I have had the occassion to use V-Tech phones in other people's homes and they seemed to be OK. I need a 2-handset model, too.
I have been a Panasonic user for years and I am disappointed that the 5.8 mhz is not performing well.
I think I'l give V-Tech a try.
Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Re: V-Tech and Panasonic and "Thank you, all!"
I have a V-Tech that I'm now trowing away. After two years, all the handsets are going bad. They won't recharge. New batteries didn't help. Of course, out of warranty too.
I bought the Panasonic KX-TG6502B (two handsets, two lines, 5.8Ghz, digital answering machine, the whole ball of wax) and have been very happy with it. With extended range boost and voice enhancement, I can walk across the street and still use the phone. Volume is not a problem and the speaker phone capabilities is great!
Panasonic gets my vote.
