Prayers PLEASE!
I received a call from the military today....
"There was an incident in-------------today and we are calling to tell you that your soldier is okay."
That was it! I'm going insane. Thank GOD he's okay. But what exactly does "okay" mean. They couldn't tell me any more. Unfortunately this call means someone in his unit is not okay.
So PLEASE say an EXTRA prayer tonight for my son and his unit and ALL our Soldiers at war.
Thank you.

No doubt our families prayers will be with your family. We are so grateful for the job our brave soldiers do. My stepson was in the army and I must have prayed everyday. Our hearts go out to you.

Thank you Cyndi! I know that this is probably not the place for this, but I am going nuts here and I felt like I needed to ask for all the help I can get.

cmd NH, I know what you are feeling (being a veteran of the Iraqi war myself), and rest assured that I will also pray for your loved one tonight. America is proud of our military, and our soldiers, sailors, and marines are more than happy to defend democracy for freedom's sake.

It is soooo hard. They don't tell me anything. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can find out more? You can email me [e-mail address]

When my stepson was in the Army he had gotten into some trouble with a Turk in Germany. He called to tell me he was in jail and I was a complete basket case. All the waiting and the unknown would drive anyone nuts. Don't ever worry about asking. Every prayer counts. I feel like I am your friend and friends should never be afraid to ask, for anything.

My husband retired from the Military in 1990 after getting back from Desert Storm. We were engaged to be married and when he found out that he might be leaving we got married in Ga on a Saturday and he left the following Monday. Could not tell me where he was going and he was gone a whole year after that. My daughter was 14 and he was a widow with 3 children 12, 13 and 14. The kids kept me busy and I worked a lot to keep me busy, but I thought I would never make it. I was gladly surpised when the Navy had a plaque make out to me for my service in the military. Family is so important, when he got back he retired after 22 years. My prayers are with you

Re: Margaret....
Thanks for sharing that. I too try to keep busy. I am online all the time just in case my son gets online so we can chat. (Hence hanging out at NotRot so much). He is my baby and I am soooo PROUD of what he's doing, but it is very hard to sit back here and not know from one minute to the next. I am anxious all the time until he gets online. Chatting with him is the only thing that calms me down. Now, after that call, I know he won't be online for a few days. And as I said before, NOBODY will tell me anything. I asked if he was hurt and she said "all I can tell you right now is he's okay".

Re: Margaret....
Its so great that they have computers so you can chat. They were not able or did not have the capability at that time. I just checked the mailbox everyday and I would go weeks without a letter and then one day I would get 30. He numbered then so I could read them in the order that he had written them. I wrote everyday and recorded tapes of me and the kids and he loved that.

Re: Margaret....
I just can't imagine how you or anyone did it before. Not hearing anything for weeks. I would have been in a nuthouse. I go four days without an email or chat and I'm almost ready. Put me in an office doing bookkeeping, taxes, signings, or selling real estate and I'm as cool as a cucumber...but when it comes to my kids...well, you know!

My aunt and uncle lived in Deerfield, NH and I have found childhood memories of visiting them each summer. My father was in the Military and my mother would get lonely for my Dad and we would spend the summer at their farm.

I used to live near there. It's a nice area. Did you ever go to the fair? I used to have a blast there when I was a kid.

Re: To CMD
No. I just remember the fresh eggs from the chickens, they made their own butter with a churn and they had several horses. They also bred German Shepards which I was deathly afraid of. I lost my fear of dogs and now I have 5.

I might not have went into a major panic. You are probably right....I'm going to take some deep breaths and try to relax. Think positive and stay busy till he calls.

That's a winner! My son is Rob, also. I am just very glad that you got that "he's okay" message. I can only imagine the way you must feel most of the time. You and all mothers with children there are heros, too. Bless you.

Re: Thanks again to all of you...
You don't know how much you've helped me tonight. Hubby's away until tomorrow and dealing with this alone was hard. I appreciate all your comments and the way you've responded with warmth and kindness. Just goes to show, when the chips are down...we'll all pull together. Again, I apologize for using NotRot for this subject, but I knew you'd understand. I'll update you when I hear more. I know your prayers will help!
And to all who have served or are still serving, I THANK YOU!

re: prayers please
Cindy,
I just got an email from an ex co worker that one of ours was hit today. broken arm, broken shoulder, shrapnel in the head and in a coma. He is on the way to Germany, via medivac.
he's with a NH group.....so something is going on. The reason you were notified is so that you would know when the news hit the airwaves, that you would be reassured that yours is ok. If i hear of anything else, i will let you know.
keep your chin up, being a military family is not easy. I was one for 15 yrs. email me if you need to talk. (active duty for 4, married to it for over 11)
please say prayers for the family involved, the injured party is a Chief of Police that was called to active duty and he has a wife and at least one child, a teenage son that i know of....i dont know if there are any other children.
May God keep all of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coasties safe..... Laura

I'll be right beside you in prayer. My son is in Irag also just west of Bagdad somewhere and I'd be a basket case. One of the other ladies from NOTROT even wrote my son a letter and sent it to him because she has a son there also. We are all with you--never feel alone!
